To enhance the development of top-tier international talents in the modern era, Chengdu University has selected 12 students to participate in the “Field Exchange Program for United Nations Headquarters in Asia Pacific” (referred to as the 'UNB Program') during the upcoming winter vacation in Bangkok, Thailand. This marks the inaugural participation of Chengdu University students in an international organization's field exchange program.
The “UNB Program” is one of the “Special Practical Activities for Talent Cultivation by International Organizations”, a component of the “New Youth Global Competence Training Program.” The UNB Program offers Chinese youth hands-on opportunities to engage directly in international organization projects. Exceptional students are selected to form new youth teams to visit sites such as the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), overseas institutions, Thai universities, and other venues. These visits involve a diverse array of activities including diplomatic engagements, on-site exchanges, participation in international conferences, volunteer services, and urban research.During their time at ESCAP, these students will attend the Global Peace Summit. They will delve into comprehensive discussions centered around the “Peace Initiative” and partake in multifaceted learning and exchanges regarding peace development, sustainable development, and humanitarian aid endeavors. The UNB Program aims to inspire students’ intelligence and potential, broaden their global horizons, foster international understanding, enhance global competence, and lay a robust foundation for potential internships or careers within international organizations.
Chengdu University is dedicated to nurturing top-tier talent with a global perspective and competitive edge. The selection of the students for the UNB Program reflects their comprehensive capabilities and global competence. In the initial stages, pertinent departments of Chengdu University undertook a stringent selection process for registered students, encompassing English proficiency assessments, evaluations of United Nations knowledge, and comprehensive quality appraisals. Eventually, 12 exceptional students were chosen from a vast pool of applicants.
Through the UNB Program, Chengdu University aims to showcase the image of Chinese youth and the spirited demeanor of its students in foreign cultural exchanges and interactions, while enhancing the students' global competence through practical experience.
