From October 18 to 19, the International Conference on Translational Research and Innovation (ICTRI 2023) — Special Focus on Low Carbon Materials, Advanced Manufacture and Healthy Sustainable Developments was held at Chengdu University (CDU). The Conference was co-hosted by CDU and the International Association of Advanced Materials (IAAM). Nearly 200 experts, scholars, teachers, and students in the fields of low carbon materials, advanced manufacture, and healthy sustainable developments at home and abroad attended the ICTRI 2023 to discuss the latest progress and challenges in translational research and innovation.
At the opening ceremony, Professor Wang Qingyuan, President of CDU and Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, delivered a speech as the Chinese Chairman of the Conference. Wang extended warm welcome and congratulations to the representatives and guests from afar and introduced in detail the discipline development and international cooperation and exchanges of CDU. He hoped that the conference platform would be used to promote its development in the fields of low carbon materials, green energy, advanced manufacture, and healthy sustainable developments.
Professor Ashutosh Tiwari, Secretary-General of IAAM, delivered a speech as foreign Chairman of the Conference. He said that this Conference is not only an academic event for academic exchanges and stimulation of innovation but also a stage for communication to deepen friendship and enhance consensus. It is also a development platform for promotion, exhibition, and sharing of opportunities, which provides opportunities for CDU and IAAM to promote translational research and innovation. He hoped that future meetings would be sustained and continue to contribute to sci-tech innovation.
The Conference centered on themes such as advanced electronic materials, new green energy and energy storage technologies, vehicle testing and control technologies, new technologies for sustainable development of the medical and health sector, and polymer engineering and green application. Well-known experts and scholars at home and abroad delivered keynote speeches, including Professor Chai Guocai from Sweden-based Alleima AB, Professor Michael Ruck from the Dresden University of Technology, Professor D. K. Dwivedi from the Madan Mohan Malaviya University of Technology, Professor David Hui from the University of New Orleans, Professor Zhu Yongfa from Tsinghua University, Professor Huang Weiyang from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and Professor Guan Zhongwei from CDU.
The Conference brought together resources from universities, scientific research institutes, and enterprises at home and abroad, and built a platform for in-depth exchanges among relevant researchers, developers, enterprises, and users. The Conference was held online and offline, and presented wonderful academic reports of 71 experts and scholars from nine countries and regions. Participants discussed the key challenges and cutting-edge trends in translational research and innovation, providing valuable insights for CDU to enhance its influence in the fields of low carbon materials, advanced manufacture, and healthy sustainable developments.
The Conference was held based on the cooperation agreement signed between CDU and IAAM in 2019, as well as IAAM's planning objectives for the 2030 agenda for translational scientific research and innovation in the energy and health sectors. It was organized by the School of Mechanical Engineering, School of Pharmacy, School of Architecture and Civil Engineering, the CDU Institute for Advanced Study, National Low-carbon New Materials Discipline Innovation and Talent Introduction Base, Sichuan New Material Design, Preparation, and Performance Talent Introduction Base, and Sichuan Powder Metallurgy Engineering Technology Research Center. It was co-organized by the Swedish Association of Advanced Materials, Silpakorn University, and Chengdu New Materials Society.
