On the afternoon of May 5, Yuri Senko, Ambassador of Belarus to China and Dmitry Yemelyanov, Belarusian Consulate General in Chongqing, visited Chengdu University (CDU) with their delegation. They were warmly welcomed by President Wang Qingyuan and Vice President Peng Xiaolin at the meeting hall of the College of Chinese & ASEAN Arts. The two sides exchanged views on educational cooperation.
President Wang Qingyuan introduced the recent developments and international strategies of CDU to the guests. He said that, as a comprehensive practice-oriented city university, CDU always adheres to internal development, reform and innovation, and quality improvement. In recent years, it has accumulated significant strength in constructing a first-class practice-oriented city university with unique characteristics in China and achieved remarkable success in international education. CDU has been shortlisted in the three prestigious global rankings, and is dedicated to further promoting Chinese-foreign education cooperation and enhancing the effectiveness of international talent cultivation. It will continue to adhere to its international development strategy and promote deeper exchanges between students and faculty of the two countries.
Ambassador Yuri Senko said that CDU is the university where the Athletes' Village for the 31st FISU Summer World University Games 2021 is located, and has made outstanding achievements in discipline construction, personnel training and international exchanges in recent years. He expressed his hope for an increase in Belarusian students participating in exchange programs at CDU while also welcoming more students from CDU to study in Belarus. He highlighted that Belarus was among the first countries to support the Belt and Road Initiative. The Embassy of Belarus in China will give full play to its role as a bridge to promote cultural exchanges, scientific research cooperation, and mobility of students and faculty between Belarusian universities and CDU.
Later, Wang Qingyuan, Peng Xiaolin, Yuri Senko and Dmitry Yemelyanov jointly announced the inauguration of the Belarus Culture and Art Exchange Center at Chengdu University. This inauguration ceremony is of great significance to both sides in the field of education and culture.
After the meeting, Ambassador Yuri Senko and his delegation visited Chengdu-ASEAN Arts Center.
Relevant personnel from the Foreign Affairs Office of the People's Government of Sichuan Province, as well as those in charge of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange and the College of Chinese & ASEAN Arts at CDU, attended the exchange activities.
