The 23rd China Annual Conference & Expo for International Education (CACIE), with the theme "Reshaping Education: Adaptation and Transformation", kicked off in Beijing during February 16-18. Liu Liming, President of the CEAIE hosted the opening ceremony. Huai Jinpeng, Minister of Education delivered a speech via video links. H.E. Patricia Hildegard Flor, the Ambassador to China from Germany (guest country of honor), and Santiago Irazabal Mourão, President of the 41st session of the General Conference of UNESCO, addressed at the site. Both online and offline, this year's CACIE was celebrated with more than 30 parallel forums, over 10 multi-lateral meetings and presentations, as well as five theme exhibitions. Wang Qingyuan, President of Chengdu University (CDU), was invited to the CACIE and shared his insights at the 5th International Cooperation Symposium on Application-oriented Universities and China-Pakistan Internet+ Symposium on International Education and Industry-Education Integration.
On the afternoon of February 16, the 5th International Cooperation Symposium on Application-oriented Universities kicked off with a conversation on "high-quality international talent cultivation and development of application-oriented disciplines". Fu Bo, Deputy Secretary-General of CEAIE attended the symposium and made a speech. Wang discussed the topic "the internationalization-oriented high-quality development of application-oriented city universities". He introduced the historical evolution, positioning, and schooling features of CDU and then reported the new concepts and routes that the University is exploring in the context of the integrated development of Three Strategies in China. To be specific, CDU takes the internationalization strategy as the starting point, focuses on constructing first-class application-oriented city universities and cultivating the application-oriented, high-quality international talent with global competence, and comprehensively explores and implements international strategy in such fields as school-city integration, cross-border education, scientific research cooperation, teacher and student exchange, as well as international reputation improvement.
On the afternoon of February 17, the China-Pakistan Internet+ Symposium on International Education and Industry-Education Integration was unveiled. Attendees discussed various topics, such as the use of the Internet+ CCTE (Chinese, culture, techniques, and education) model to promote educational exchanges between China and Pakistan, the accelerated cultivation of talent in need for international production capacity cooperation, and the building of educational brands with Chinese characteristics. Liu Liming, President of CEAIE, Moin Ul Haque, Pakistani Ambassador to China, and Li Jinsong, CEO of Tang Chinese Education & Technology Ltd. attended the symposium and made their speeches. Wang hosted the symposium and delivered a welcome speech. He said that Pakistan is a long-term strategic partner of China, and the symposium will promote the integration and development of vocational education systems in both countries and facilitate the implementation of double-diplomas programs offered by both Chinese and Pakistani universities. The aim is to share the advanced standards of vocational education in China to cultivate talent with technical skills for Chinese enterprises in Pakistan, serve the development of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, and further strengthen the people-to-people bond between the two countries. Also, he expressed his hope to see more in-depth exchanges and cooperation between CDU and higher education institutions in Pakistan. In addition to that, he was invited to the initiative activity of the China-Pakistan International Industrial-Academic Integration Alliance and the signing ceremony of China-Pakistan educational cooperation projects.
The heads of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange, the Office of Academic Affairs, and the School of Mechanical Engineering attended the exchange activity.
CACIE is an annual grand event of the international education society hosted by CEAIE, with the support of the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China and the approval of the State Council. Founded in 2000, the event is taken on an annual basis and is now the largest platform for comprehensive educational cooperation and exchange and one of the most influential comprehensive events for international cooperation in education in Asia-Pacific regions. As one of the biggest education expos in Asia, the CACIE Expo, in particular, leads the trend of studying abroad. The 2023 CACIE made a proposal solicitation from the world with 35 high-quality sub-forums and project presentations. Nearly 500 policymakers of education at home and abroad, presidents of Chinese and foreign universities, leading academics in education, renowned entrepreneurs, and representatives from international organizations were invited to shed light on hot topics in various fields of global exchange and cooperation in education, covering higher education, vocational education, basic education, themed educational activities, and so on. It is all to guide the current educational transformation worldwide.
As the Standing Director Unit of CEAIE and the Deputy Standing Director Unit of the Application-oriented Universities Committee of China Education Association for International Exchange (CEAIE-AUC), CDU has been actively participating in the event. In order to further advance CDU's exchange and cooperation with overseas universities and institutions, it has been improving its influence and leveraging the platform of CACIE, with pragmatic participation in international educational cooperation under the multi-lateral mechanism's framework. Looking ahead, it will strengthen the connectivity in education, advance the common development in global education, and amplify the concept of the internationalization strategy in the new era.
