Wang Qingyuan Leads to Visit the MOE Center for Language Education and Cooperation

On February 16, Wang Qingyuan, President of Chengdu University (CDU), led a delegation to the Ministry of Education (MOE) Center for Language Education and Cooperation (hereinafter referred to as the "Center") of the. Yang Jun, Deputy Director of the Center, warmly welcomed the delegation led by President Wang Qingyuan. Both parties had in-depth exchanges on the role of Chinese language prrogrammes in hosting the Chengdu 2021 FISU World University Games.

Wang Qingyuan appreciated the Center for its guidance and assistance to CDU in international Chinese education. He introduced the history, characteristics, and achievements of CDU and in particular, the university’s hosting of the Chengdu 2021 FISU World University Games. He mentioned that CDU regards internationalization as one of the three major development strategies, insists on the opening-up of education, and actively promotes international Chinese education and overseas communication with educational cooperation and cultural exchanges in recent years. In 2010, CDU cooperated with the University of New Hampshire in the United States to establish a Confucius Institute and successively built four Confucius Classrooms with local school districts and schools. It has organized exchange and learning activities for college and middle school students from China and the United States many times. Remarkable achievements have been made through frequent exchanges and close cooperation. CDU's Confucius Institute in the United States has won the global commendation of the headquarters of the Confucius Institute twice. Wang Qingyuan said that CDU seized the opportunity of the Chengdu 2021 FISU World University Games to promote Chengdu to the world, integrating the characteristics of youth, the Chengdu 2021 FISU World University Games, and Chengdu culture to build a performance stage for college athletes around the world.

Yang Jun introduced the reform and development of the Center and the series of activities carried out by the Center and the Beijing Organizing Committee of the 2022 Olympics Winter Games during the preparation in detail. He said that high-level language services are the foundation of high-quality competitions, and also the embodiment of the international image and competitiveness of the host country and the host city. He hoped that the Center can take the opportunity of the Chengdu 2021 FISU World University Games to establish a good cooperative relationship with CDU to jointly play a greater role in carrying forward the spirit of the Chengdu 2021 FISU World University Games and telling the story of China. Yang Jun spoke highly of Volume I of One Hundred of the Most Beautiful Poems of Chengdu: Land of Poetry and Abundance, the phased achievement of the International Chinese Language Innovation Project of the Center completed by the CDU team.

The heads of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange, the Office of Academic Affairs, and the School of Mechanical Engineering attended the exchange activity.
