Record-high Nature Index Ranking of CDU: 561st in Global Rank, 140th and 5th in Chinese Mainland and Sichuan Province

Recently, the Nature Index for universities and colleges in the Chinese mainland, which is based on data from 82 world-class academic journals, has updated its ranking (statistical time frame: December 1, 2021–November 30, 2022). Chengdu University's (CDU) performance among global academic institutions hit another new record high, ranked 561st, 87 higher than before. It ranks 561th in the world, 140th among universities and colleges in the Chinese mainland, and 5th in Sichuan Province. This outstanding achievement adds to CDU's good reputation.


The list statistics involve 58 articles, a dramatically rising number, in physics, chemistry, and earth and environmental sciences. Among them, the subject ranking of chemistry is 322nd in the world, 108th in the Chinese mainland, and 3rd in the province; meanwhile, it is also ranked top 1% of the Essential Science Indicators (ESI) Global Disciplines Ranking.

Over the past few years, CDU has been implementing the talent and internationalization strategies. Intensifying its efforts in talent introduction, it has enhanced scientific cooperation and exchange with Chinese and foreign universities. The listed articles show that CDU has frequently cooperated with renowned academic institutions at home and abroad, achieving constantly increased outcomes and expanding influence of scientific research. Its partners include the University of Houston, Universität Bremen, King Khalid University, Catalonia Institute for Energy Research of Universitat de Barcelona, University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, Sichuan University, Zhengzhou University, and National Engineering Research Center of Chiral Drugs. Meanwhile, it drives forward teaching quality with scientific research and promotes discipline development to improve its discipline strength and global impact. At present, many CDU disciplines have become global first-class ones.
