A testing site for the Test of Proficiency in Korean (TOPIK) has been set up at the the Global Language Testing Center of Chengdu University (CDU). In December 2022, CDU was approved to set up a TOPIK testing site by the National Education Examinations Authority of the Ministry of Education, becoming the third TOPIK site in Sichuan Province following Sichuan University and Southwest Minzu University.

Up to now, there are 33 TOPIK testing sites in China. The CDU site will be put into use in 2023. TOPIK is an international test administered by the National Institute for International Education of the Ministry of Education of Korea to measure the ability of non-native speakers for expression and comprehension in the Korean language. The test scores can be used to apply for Korean universities, jobs, and visas. Currently, TOPIK is available in 242 areas in 86 countries, and the test score is equally valid worldwide (it is valid for 2 years from the date of its announcement). The test has no requirement on candidates' ethnic groups, regions or nationality. It is available for Korean language learners, overseas students in Korea, and enrolled students or graduates who want to work for Korean companies or public institutions. In the Chinese Mainland, TOPIK is administered by the National Education Examinations Authority of the Ministry of Education twice a year in April and October, and candidates can register for the test online four to five months in advance.

The approval of the TOPIK testing site shows the recognition and affirmation of the National Education Examinations Authority of the Ministry of Education towards the achievements made by CDU in international development. It is also an important part of the CDU Global Language Testing Center (in preparation). The university will continue to improve the standardized construction of the testing sites and service capacities, and make reasonable arrangements for multi-language programs and test sites, to achieve the quality upgrade and efficiency improvement of multi-language teaching programs. Meanwhile, the university is striving to make itself a preferred choice for international language tests by building a multilingual test site cluster, to provide high-quality and standard services for candidates in Chengdu, Sichuan and even southwest China. The establishment of this testing site will also provide convenience for our students engaging in the Chinese-Korean cooperative education projects to participate in the language test. It will help improve their Korean language skills, expand their international vision, and enhance their international comprehension and global competence, contributing to the cultivation of international talent.
