On November 12, Clarivate Analytics released the latest ESI Citation Thresholds, covering data from January 1, 2012 to October 31, 2022. The chemistry discipline of Chengdu University (CDU) has been included in the top 1% of the ESI global disciplines globally. This marks that CDU chemistry discipline has become an international first-class discipline, and fully demonstrates its strength and international influence. In the ranking of universities with ESI highly cited papers, there are 152 highly cited papers at CDU, ranking 1277th in the world, 122nd in China, and 5th in Sichuan Province. So far, a total of three disciplines have been added to the list of the global top 1% disciplines of ESI, ranking in the top 10 universities in Sichuan, which reflects the high-quality development of discipline construction at CDU.

In the current ESI data, there are 760 articles counted in chemistry, including 26 top articles, with a total of 8,779 citations, ranking 1689th in the world, 248th among universities in Chinese Mainland, and 11th in Sichuan Province. There is a further growth in the discipline rankings of Engineering and Agricultural Science that have been included in the top 1% of ESI worldwide, in comparison with previous performance data. With the strong development momentum, there are 53 top articles counted in chemistry, including 4 new articles, with a total of 7,964 citations and 982 new citations, ranking 1254th in the world, up 63 places. There are 19 top articles counted in agricultural science, including 3 new articles, with a total of 3,893 citations and 504 new citations, ranking 947th in the world, up 69 places.

In recent years, focusing on talent strategy and discipline development, CDU has deepened the reform of discipline construction, promoted the work of doctoral degree accreditation, and built top disciplines. In addition, CDU continues to increase its investment in discipline development and scientific research, therefore advancing the achievements of discipline development and scientific research output. On this basis, new approaches will be taken to innovate the system and mechanism of discipline development, target the focus of discipline construction planning, point the development direction of discipline, and strengthen the interdisciplinary integration of disciplines. At the same time, efforts will be made to optimize the discipline structure, highlight the development of unique, emerging, and interdisciplinary disciplines, and promote the high-quality development of disciplines. These measures have provided CDU with strong support in accelerating the development of CDU into a first-class city university in China, with distinctive characteristics and international reputation.
