On the afternoon of November 15, the first session of the "Teachers Talk" Microforum was held in the "CDU Scholars" Literature Zone of the library. Wang Qingyuan, President of Chengdu University  (CDU) and Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, gave a talk to teachers' and students' representatives in person. He shared his personal experience of pursuing his academic career and success. Nearly 50 teachers' and students' representatives from the Institute for Advanced Study, Zhanglan Honors College, School of Mechanical Engineering, School of Architecture and Civil Engineering, College of Teachers, School of Computer Science, College of Overseas Education and so on attended the event. The event was held by the CDU Library and hosted by Wu Qihong, Dean of the School of Architecture and Civil Engineering.

Wang Qingyuan recalled his learning experience as a student and working experience as a university counsellor from secondary to postgraduate education. He also shared his overseas experiences as a doctoral candidate in France, a postdoctor and a research fellow in the United States and Japan, as well as his pursuit and realization of personal academic dreams at CDU.

In Q & A, the present students and young teachers spoke enthusiastically. They raised questions about their studies or work, such as "I'll graduate soon. Should I work or continue to study?", and "how to contribute to the development of CDU by pursuing personal careers as young teachers". Wang Qingyuan responded to the questions one by one based on his own experience.

The microforum went on in a warm atmosphere, with applauses from time to time. The more-than-one-hour communication was rewarding for students and young teachers. They all agreed that they benefited a lot from the forum and hoped to have more opportunities to exchange ideas with excellent teachers face-to-face in the future.

The "CDU Scholars" Literature Zone is for collecting, sorting out and displaying some of the achievements made by our scholars since the establishment of CDU. It is aimed at promoting the university spirit of "seeking truth and being pragmatic, constantly striving for self-improvement” and the ethos of "cultivating great virtue with elegance, making great achievements with perseverance", as well as encouraging young students to take national rejuvenation and social progress as their own duty. This platform is used to launch the "Teachers Talk" microforum, inviting senior teachers of CDU to tell their own stories of academic growth so as to cultivate talent for the Party and the country.
