The book Waste-to-Energy: Recent Developments and Future Perspectives towards Circular Economy, co-edited by a team led by Professor Abomohra from the School of Architecture and Civil Engineering, Chengdu University (CDU), was officially published in Springer Nature on February 9, 2022, totaling over 260,000 words on 651 pages. It took two years for the team to complete the work. It is the first academic publication by our faculty team in Springer Nature.

Professor Abomohra has been working with Professor Wang Qingyuan for the research on the recycling of solid waste. Over the past three years, they have published 35 high-quality papers in Renewable and Sustainable Energy Reviews, Bioresource Technology, Journal of Building Engineering, Construction and Building Materials, Journal of Cleaner Production, etc. Thanks to their efforts, CDU's application for the construction of "Sichuan Urban Solid Waste, Energy and Building Materials Conversion and Utilization Technology Engineering Research Center" was approved by the Sichuan Provincial Development and Reform Commission. The book Waste-to-Energy consists of three sections, that is, Conventional Waste Management, From Waste to Green Energy, and Case Studies and Future Perspectives. There are 20 chapters on different topics in the book, covering the findings of 70-plus researchers from 16 countries such as China, Egypt, Pakistan, South Korea, Spain, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Overall, the book covers the recent advances, breakthroughs, challenges, and future perspectives of the waste-to-energy approach using different kinds of wastes as a feedstock for alternative biofuels and other integrated approaches such as wastewater treatment, plastic degradation, and CO2 sequestration in a cost-effective and eco-friendly way.
