As the first stop of a Flame Exhibition Tour Event Series special exhibition of the Chengdu 2021 FISU World University Games kicked off at the Chengdu Museum on Thursday, the flame lantern and the flame cauldron were officially released to the public.
Both of the two devices feature Chengdu's city logo and the symbol of Chinese cultural heritage - the Golden Sun Bird, which soars through flames in unwavering pursuit of the light.
The appearance of the flame lantern is a combination of a portable lantern and headphones. It follows the design of torch Rong Huo, with hollow-carved bamboo leaves on the upper part and a panda hugging the main part.
The design of the flame cauldron was inspired by "Zun", a drinking utensil in ancient China. It features a lovely giant panda opening its arms to hug athletes from all over the world.
"We hope to enable the world to experience the originality and openness of Tianfu culture through the symbols of the Chengdu 2021 FISU Games. By integrating the Golden Sun Bird, giant panda, and bamboo, we are introducing the harmonious relationship between man and nature and the aesthetics of Chengdu life," said renowned Chinese artist Xu Liaoyuan, whose team has designed the torch Rong Huo, flame lantern, and flame cauldron.
The special exhibition, which will run until 9 January 2022, has four parts that represent the four colours of Rong Huo - rich red, bright yellow, jade green, and lake blue. Visitors can learn about previous FISU World University Games, the Chengdu 2021 FISU Games, Flame Relay, etc., and they can also experience the Flame Relay through VR technology in an interactive area.
