On the morning of October 18, a delegation led by Kanakorn Sawangcharoen, President of Bansomdejchaopraya Rajabhat University (BSRU) of Thailand visited Chengdu University. Hu Xiuqiang, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of CDU, warmly received the delegation in Meeting Room A102 of the Administrative Service Center. The two parties held a friendly discussion on deepening cooperation between the two universities and advancing higher education development between China and Thailand.
Hu Xiuqiang extended a warm welcome to the guests and briefly introduced Chengdu University's development in recent years and the outcomes of its internationalization strategy. He emphasized that Chengdu University adheres to internationalization as its strategic orientation, expanding quality educational resources globally, enhancing the university's international influence, and broadening the global perspectives of both faculty and students. He stressed that Thailand is one of the countries along the 21st-Century Maritime Silk Road, holding a significant position in China-Thailand cooperation, which has always been marked by deep and enduring friendship. As a renowned applied university in Thailand, BSRU has extensive academic expertise and experience in talent cultivation across various fields. We look forward to deepening cooperation with BSRU in areas such as student exchange, scientific research, and cultural exchanges, contributing to the friendship and prosperity of both China and Thailand. He noted that the upcoming year would mark the 50th anniversary of the China-Thailand diplomatic relationship. Promoting further exchange and cooperation in higher education between the two countries will not only enhance mutual trust and understanding in education, science, and culture but also better serve the economic and social development goals of both nations, supporting peace and prosperity in the Asia-Pacific region.
President Kanakorn expressed gratitude for the warm reception and praised Chengdu University's achievements in recent years, particularly in international cooperation and research innovation. He stated that the development of higher education in China and Thailand is highly complementary, and Chengdu University's innovative initiatives in applied talent cultivation are worth learning from. This visit aims to further promote the friendly relationship between the two universities, explore more opportunities for collaboration, and contribute to the development of education in both countries. He hopes that this meeting will serve as an opportunity to leverage the strengths of both universities, promote further cooperation between Chinese and Thai universities in international education—particularly in talent cultivation, cross-cultural exchanges, and scientific research—and lay a solid foundation for mutual benefit between the two countries.
After the meeting, the guests toured the campus. Relevant heads of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange and the Graduate Student Department participated in the activities.
