On September 16, the Stanford University research team updated the World's Top 2% Scientists list published on the Mendeley Data platform launched by Elsevier (August 2024 data-update for "Updated science-wide author databases of standardized citation indicators"). Four scholars from Chengdu University (CDU), including Distinguished Research Fellow Liu Qian and Research Fellow Shi Kaibo, were included in the list of "career-long impact", while 18 scholars, including Professor Zou Liang and Professor Yuan Weicheng, were included in the list of "single-year impact". A total of 19 scholars from CDU were included in the list, marking an increase of 7 over the previous year and a growth rate of 58.3%, reaching a record high in history. CDU ranked second among those that are not "Double First-Class" universities in Sichuan and first among doctoral degree awarding construction units in the province.
The World's Top 2% Scientists list by Stanford University is a globally influential project jointly published by Elsevier and the research team led by Professor John P. A. Ioannidis from Stanford University. The list was released on the Mendeley Data website launched by Elsevier. The ranking is based on the 2023 C-score of scholars and six indicators including citations, h-index, and co-authorship adjusted hm-index. According to their "career-long impact" and "single-year impact", the top 2% of scientists are selected from a comprehensive evaluation of 22 fields and 174 subfields, aiming at providing a measurement index of scientists' long-term scientific research performance to more objectively and truly reflect the influence of scientists.
