On September 25, a delegation led by Prof. Andrew George, Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists in the United Kingdom, and Li Changgen, Director of the Elderly Care Service Guidance Center of Chengdu Municipal Civil Affairs Bureau, visited Chengdu University. Li Jian, Director of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange of Chengdu University, attended the meeting. On behalf of Chengdu University, Li Jian warmly welcomed the guests and exchanged views with the British side and Director Li Changgen on the preliminary idea of China-Britain cooperation in establishing the Alzheimer's Disease Research Center. As a world-renowned immunologist, Prof. Andrew George highly appreciated the research promoted by Chengdu University in the Alzheimer's disease field. He said that Alzheimer's disease is a global medical problem, and for patients, the quality of life will decrease significantly. Therefore, how to scientifically and effectively improve patients' quality of life is of great significance.

Li Changgen pointed out that with an increasing aging population, it is particularly urgent to establish such an Alzheimer's Disease Research Center. He mentioned that Sichuan Province and Chengdu have been vigorously supporting the screening program for the disease risk faced by the elderly. Sichuan Province and Chengdu have included funds related to cognitive disorders in the continuous investment project of the elderly care service system.

The Alzheimer's Disease Research Center will cooperate with multiple scientific research and medical institutions to integrate the strength of psychology, rehabilitation, architecture, food engineering, and other disciplines so as to provide professional support for many people suffering from geriatric diseases in terms of living facilities, psychological support, and diversified treatment methods. At the same time, the center will facilitate the education and promotion of Alzheimer's disease pathology, as well as related sciences, including psychology, architecture, nursing, and clinical research. It will ultimately serve the joint development of industry-university-research cooperation in the local.
