Anthony Preston, Consul General of the British Consulate General in Chongqing, and His Delegation Visit Chengdu University

On the morning of July 2, Anthony Preston, Consul General of the British Consulate General in Chongqing, and his delegation visited Chengdu University. Zhu Ming, President of Chengdu University, met with the guests cordially and exchanged views on education cooperation. Peng Xiaolin, Vice President of Chengdu University, accompanied and received the guests.

Zhu Ming warmly welcomed Anthony Preston, Consul General of the British Consulate General in Chongqing, and his delegation, and introduced the overall situation of Chengdu University and its cooperation with universities in the UK. Chengdu University is a comprehensive application-oriented urban university. It has always adhered to connotation development, reform and innovation, and quality improvement. In recent years, it has made gratifying achievements in discipline construction, talent training, scientific research, and international cooperation and exchanges. Chengdu University is committed to further promoting the development of Chinese-foreign cooperation in running schools and improving the effectiveness of international talent training. Chengdu University cooperates closely with universities in the UK. It has jointly established Stirling College with University of Stirling and planned to establish an independent legal entity for Chinese-foreign cooperation in running schools with Oxford Brookes University. Zhu Ming said that he looked forward to deepening cooperation with the government, universities and enterprises of the UK in the future to promote friendly exchanges between China and the UK.

Anthony Preston fully affirmed the achievements of cooperation between Chengdu University and universities in the UK. He said that the UK government has always attached great importance to educational cooperation with China, especially with universities in western China. In addition, the British Council has been committed to strengthening cooperation with China in recent years and is willing to build a platform for two-way cooperation and exchanges between Chengdu University and universities in the UK to jointly promote exchanges and cooperation between China and the UK in the education field.

After the meeting, Anthony Preston and his delegation attended the opening ceremony of the Mandarin Excellence Programme (MEP) and visited the computer-based IELTS test center of Chengdu University.

The foreign deputy dean of the Confucius Institute of the Education College of University College London and relevant persons in charge of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange and the Overseas Education College of Chengdu University attended the above activities.
