"Studying in Chengdu, Exploring Tianfu Culture" — "Let Me Tell You About Chengdu" Practical Activity

On April 8, 2024, international students from the Overseas Education College of Chengdu University participated in a unique practical activity titled "Let Me Tell You About Chengdu" at the Chengdu Local Chronicles Museum. Jointly organized by the Chengdu Local Chronicles Museum, Chengdu Education Center for International Exchanges, and the Overseas Education College of Chengdu University, the event aimed to deepen the international students' understanding of Chengdu and its Tianfu culture, exploring the geography, historical changes, and the development of local chronicles in the city.

Fourteen international students from the Overseas Education College of Chengdu University participated in this event, led by teachers Li Dan and Liu Ying. Together, they listened attentively to the detailed introduction of Chengdu and its Tianfu culture given by the docent. During the event, the students not only learned about the geographical features of Chengdu but also delved into its historical changes, as well as the importance and development of local chronicles. Through the vivid narration of the docent, the students gained a deeper understanding of this ancient yet vibrant city.

In addition, the students also participated in various interactive activities. They learned about the origin of Chengdu's place names from the docent and gained insights into many interesting historical anecdotes. Furthermore, the students engaged in a series of games that furthered their understanding of the cultural significance behind Chengdu's place names. Moreover, they also took part in the trendy stamp-and-check-in activity, experiencing the charm of Chengdu's modern culture.

During the concluding session of the event, the international students expressed their gratitude for the enriching experience. Students from various countries gained a deeper understanding of Chengdu's geography, history, and culture through this practical activity and enhanced their comprehension and appreciation of Chinese culture. They expressed their intention to continue participating in similar events, hoping to discover more stories about Chengdu and spread the charm of Chinese culture through further practical experiences.

The successful holding of the "Let Me Tell You About Chengdu" practical activity has not only enriched the extracurricular lives of international students but also made a positive contribution to promoting cultural exchanges between China and foreign countries. The Chengdu Local Chronicles Museum, Chengdu Education Center for International Exchanges, and the Overseas Education College of Chengdu University will continue to collaborate and organize more similar practical activities, providing international students with more opportunities to understand Chinese culture and contributing to the internationalization of Chengdu.
