On October 23, the Chengdu University Station of the 6th Chem-Reaxys Academic Week Series was held in the auditorium of the College of Chinese & ASEAN Arts, Chengdu University (CDU). Wang Qingyuan, President of CDU and Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. Dr. Robert Eagling, Chairman of the conference and Editor-in-Chief of Chem, along with top domestic and foreign experts from prestigious institutions such as the University of California, Berkeley, University of Texas at Austin, University of Göttingen, Wuhan University, Sichuan University, and Chongqing University, attended the synthetic chemistry meeting and shared their innovative achievements.

Mr. Wang extended a warm welcome to the guests and proudly mentioned that CDU, the host university for the FISU Games Village, welcomes the visit of top experts in chemistry from home and abroad. Mr. Wang shared with the guests CDU's progress in developing the chemical discipline and integrating basic and applied research. He said that CDU has established a scientific research platform centered on the first-level discipline of chemistry. In recent years, the number of research awards in the related disciplines of CDU and its rank in the Nature Index have risen. The construction work for the Institute of Frontier Technology in Biology and Medicine has been completed. A large group of its faculty members have been recognized on the World's Top 2% Scientists list by Stanford University, and its chemistry discipline has entered the ESI global top 1%. These achievements underpin the future development of CDU's chemistry discipline. With original innovation, CDU will focus on strengthening basic discipline research, enhancing international exchanges and mutual learning, and promoting the development of its disciplines.

The presentations and discussion sessions were successively hosted by Professor Li Junlong from CDU, Professor Chen Yingchun and Professor Niu Dawen from Sichuan University, and Professor Han Bo from Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Keynote speeches were delivered by nine domestic and foreign experts in the field of chemistry from the University of California, Berkeley, University of Texas at Austin, University of Göttingen, CDU, Wuhan University, Sichuan University, Chongqing University, and Guangdong University of Technology. These speeches covered hot research topics such as "Alternating Current Electrolysis toward Organic Syntheses", "Organic Synthetic Chemistry Involving Carbon Dioxide", "Transformation of VQMs/Intermediates", "Controlling and Application of the Triplet Excited State of Organic Optical Function Dyes", "Sustainable Molecular Synthesis Catalyzing C-H Activation", "Inert Chemical Bond Functionalization through NHC Organocatalysis", and "Peptide-phosphonium Salt Catalysis toward Asymmetric Synthesis".

The Chem-Reaxys Academic Week series, which is co-organized by both Reaxys, a chemical and pharmaceutical R&D solution of Elsevier, and Chem, a flagship journal for Cell Press also under Elsevier, has been held for five consecutive years to share annual cutting-edge scientific research projects and achievements in the field of organic chemistry around the world.

With the theme of "Frontier Methodologies in Synthesis and Their Applications", the 6th Chem-Reaxys Academic Week series was held at CDU, Xiamen University, and Tsinghua University. The branch event at CDU was held both online and offline, with over 300 Chinese and foreign experts, scholars, researchers, and graduate students, as well as over 10,000 participants online.
