Chengdu University and Thailand's Phranakhon Si Ayutthaya Rajabhat University organized an online meeting on the morning of June 29. The online meeting was attended by Chusit Pradabpet, President of Phranakhon Si Ayutthaya Rajabhat University, and leaders of Chengdu University, including President Wang Qingyuan and Vice President Peng Xiaolin. Du Jie, Director of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange of Chengdu University presided over the online meeting. The event fostered profound dialogues and deliberations regarding forging collaborative ties between the two universities and advancing cooperation in the realms of education and scientific research.

Wang Qingyuan delivered a comprehensive presentation on the historical background, core values, and strategic positioning of our university. In addition, he highlighted notable achievements in our efforts to implement the talent strategy, characteristic strategy and internationalization strategy. According to Wang's introduction, Chengdu University, as an application-oriented academic institution, has prioritized its integration with Chengdu's development and international strategy. As a result, it has achieved significant advancements in international university rankings, the Nature Index, and highly cited research papers. Chengdu University has a long history of educational exchanges with academic institutions in Thailand. Chengdu University places great emphasis on fostering exchanges and collaboration with Thailand. The university has taken the initiative, such as being the first in Sichuan Province to establish a Thai language major and establishing the Sichuan Provincial Research Institute of Thai Studies. This institute is recognized as a national and regional research center by the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China. Furthermore, Chaphiporn Kiatkachatharn, a foreign teacher from Thailand, was honored the Chinese Government Friendship Award. Chengdu University attracts many international students from Thailand, making it a key source country for international students. Moreover, Thailand holds significance as a preferred destination for Chengdu University students participating in exchange programs and studying abroad. The university especially focuses on promoting Chinese language education internationally and fostering cultural exchange and understanding between different civilizations. Additionally, the university has collaborated with overseas academic institutions to establish Confucius Institutes in the United States, leading to our achievement of global recognition on twice. Wang expressed his outlook on the potential of Chengdu, a renowned historical and cultural city in China, indicating that collaborative endeavors in advancing the growth of the Confucius Institute could bring more opportunities for teaching staff and students from both sides in cultural exchanges and academic visits.
Chusit Pradabpet highlighted that Phranakhon Si Ayutthaya Rajabhat University (ARU), which holds the status as one of Thailand's oldest universities and the only one located within a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site, comprises seven colleges and houses the Ayutthaya Studies Institute. Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya (Ayutthaya for short), according to his detailed introduction, is a central province in Thailand and was the second capital of Siam. It takes an hour's drive from this province to Bangkok. The prosperity and glory embedded in the past centuries have left precious ancient sites in Ayutthaya, helping the province be selected to the World Heritage List in 1991 by UNESCO. Chusit Pradabpet noted that their university puts emphasis on nurturing the learning and social skills of students, aiming to facilitate their comprehensive development and elevate their overall abilities to an international standard. In his speech, Chusit Pradabpet emphasized the importance that the ARU places on its partnership with Chengdu University. Furthermore, he expressed his sincere hope for the continuous development of collaborative opportunities and deep exchanges between the two sides in the future.
During the event, the two universities also carried out in-depth discussions on the cooperation for the development of the Confucius Institute and international student cultivation, international Chinese language education, and teacher-student academic visits and etc..
