China-New Zealand Joint Programmes of CDU Receives Extension Approval from Sichuan Provincial Department of Education
Date:2023-03-10

On March 6, the Sichuan Provincial Department of Education approved an extension application from Chengdu University (CDU) and Waikato Institute of Technology (Wintec) in New Zealand for Joint Programmes in both Art Design and Broadcasting, Film and TV Production. The enrollment period is extended to 2026, and the project-running period is extended to 2029.

CDU has a history of more than ten years with Wintec in New Zealand. Since the first enrollment in September 2010, the programmes have strictly abided by the requirements of the Regulations of the People's Republic of China on Chinese-Foreign Cooperation in Running Schools, standardized the management of education and teaching, promoted development with systems, and effectively guaranteed the quality. The programmes introduce high-quality education and teaching resources from Wintec, including industry vision and the concepts, theories, and techniques of design. Art Design programme aims to meet the need for Chengdu to build a world-famous cultural and creative city. The programme of Broadcasting, Film and TV Production supports Chengdu in becoming an international music city. Focusing on industry advantages, the joint programmes explore the path of Chinese-foreign integration for international educational exchanges and talent training. Over the past decade, nearly 1,700 students who are active in art design, and broadcasting, film and TV production as well as other related fields have been trained. The two universities have also achieved remarkable results in the quality of talent training, the improvement of programme quality and efficiency, and the development of friendship cities.

The approval of both prgrammes further strengthens the advantages of CDU in the number and scale of Chinese-foreign cooperation in running schools at diploma level in Sichuan Province, becoming one of the projects with the longest operation time and the largest number of students trained in Sichuan Province.
