Recently, the results of the 2022 Higher Education Community Cup National Mathematical Modeling Contest for College Students were announced. The event attracted 54,257 teams with more than 160,000 students from 1,606 colleges and universities/campuses from all over China, the UK, Malaysia, and other countries. The students of Chengdu University (CDU) made some great achievements. This year, CDU organized 32 teams, under the instruction of their teachers Shi Da, Yang Hong, Zhao Qian, and Liu Chunyan from the School of Computer Science and Dong Hao from the Institute for Advanced Study, to participate in the contest, among which 18 teams won prizes through continuous efforts. We won 2 national second prizes and 16 regional awards (including 2 first prizes, 6 second prizes, and 8 third prizes), with a winning rate of 56.25%. Both the number of awards and the winning rate reached a record high.

Given the global virus pandemic, the competition is faced with many difficulties this year. From the summer training to the official competition in September, the competition teams have not been assembling due to pandemic prevention and control. However, the instructor and the participating students worked together and tried every means. Finally, they overcame the difficulties, completed the competition, and achieved excellent results.
