On the afternoon of December 21, Professor Hou Zhengmeng, China Affairs Commissioner of Technische Universität Clausthal (Germany), visitedChengdu University (CDU). President Wang Qingyuan met with Professor Hou at the German Exchange Center. Du Jie, Director of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange, teachers of the German Teaching and Research Officeat the College ofOverseas Education, and students of the Sino-German Joint Training Programattended the meeting. The two parties had in-depth discussion on the Sino-German joint training program, teacher-student exchanges, and cooperation between the German Exchange Center and China Kompetenzzentrum of Technische Universität Clausthal.

Wang Qingyuan shared his experience of studying abroad with the students and patiently answered their questions about further studies in Germany, scholarships, and career prospects. He encouraged students to trust themselves in their ability to overcome difficulties anddiscover their potential, and hoped that they can accomplish success in Germany and come back to serve the motherland. Hou Zhengmeng briefly introduced German universities' role in promoting modern higher education worldwide, the learning mode of Technische Universität Clausthal, and the internship, and answered students' questions abouttheir studies and employment opportunities. He noted that the university will help students quicklyadpat tothestudies and life in Germany. Du Jie encouraged students tomake efforts in the study of language and knowledge, improve their academic qualifications, enrich their experiences, and upgrade their competence for cross-cultural communication during their stay in Germany.

SinceCDU established a cooperative relationship with Technische Universität Clausthal in 2016, a total of 20 students have gone to Germany for further studies. Among them, five students are preparing for their Ph.D. studies in Germany, and two have beenemployed as student research assistants by German professors. This year, a total of nine students will participate in the program and go to Germany in September 2023. They are from the School of Electronic Information and Electrical Engineering, the School of Architecture and Civil Engineering, the School of Mechanical Engineering, and the School of Computer Science, majoring in automation, environmental engineering, engineering management, material forming and control engineering, measurement & control technology and instruments, and network engineering.
