First Meeting of the Joint Management Committee of CDU Stirling College Held

On the afternoon of January 12, 2022, Chengdu University and the University of Stirling in the UK held the first online meeting of the Joint Management Committee of Chengdu University, Stirling College (CDU Stirling College). It was the highest decision-making meeting of the Sino-foreign cooperation project between both parties. Wang Qingyuan, President of CDU, Neville Wylie, Deputy Principal of the University of Stirling (Internationalisation), and Peng Xiaolin, Vice President and Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of CDU attended the meeting.

Wang Qingyuan said that this meeting was crucial to the development of the College. The University of Stirling has world-leading expertise in the areas of sports, data science and digital media, while CDU regards its "internationalisation strategy" as a key driver for its development. Combining the competitive majors of the two universities, Stirling College integrates both the values of excellence and innovation, providing an open, inclusive, and vibrant international space for cultivating students. Looking back, with the strong support and joint efforts of the two universities, the CDU Stirling College has shown us the "CDU-Stirling speed" in its development of the College construction, education and teaching, and student activities since its establishment with the approval of the Ministry of Education in May 2021. Looking ahead, it is expected that the CDU Stirling College can develop into an international college to cultivate well-rounded talents who are urgently needed for the whole chain of the health and sports industry, and familiar with the international standards, with national aspirations, international outlook and global competence. It will further promote international cooperation and exchanges between the two parties. He also said that CDU is the official partner of the 31st FISU World University Games in 2022, and sincerely invited Stirling colleagues to visit Chengdu and enjoy the Games.

Neville Wylie said the high-quality teaching and international atmosphere have provided the teachers and students of both instituions with an excellent platform. According to the course feedback of this term, students can finish the tasks of each course well and achieve the expected goals. Our relationship has grown ever closer since we started cooperation in 2019. We also look forward to continuing our cooperation in building Stirling College and further deepening our cooperation in teaching and scientific research based on the platform of Stirling College.

The meeting also witnessed the review and approval of the operating agreement, management structure, personnel appointment, work summary of 2021 (overall work idea and finance, academic management of the UK side), teaching plan of 2021, recruitment and publicity plan for 2022, etc.

In addition, the meeting was also attended by Heads from CDU's Office of International Cooperation and Exchange, Finance Office and Stirling College, as well as Heads from the Office of Internationalisation and External Cooperation, College of Health Sciences and Physical Education, and College of Natural Sciences at the University of Stirling.
