On December 23, the final of the Second Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle Innovation Competition for International Students was held in Chengdu University (CDU) with the theme of "Innovation in West China, Studying in Chengdu-Chongqing". It is sponsored by the Department of Human Resources and Social Security of Sichuan Province, Education Department of Sichuan Province, Chongqing Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau, and Chongqing Municipal Education Commission, and organized by the Sichuan Provincial Expert Service Center and CDU.
Lai Rong, Member of the Party Leading Group, Deputy Director and First-level Inspector of the Department of Human Resources and Social Security of Sichuan Province attended the award ceremony and delivered a speech. He pointed out that this meaningful competition became successful after several consultations between functional departments serving talents and education in Sichuan and Chongqing under the call of central policy. The Department of Human Resources and Social Security of Sichuan Province will make greater efforts to promote policy innovation, optimize supporting services, and strive to provide people with conditions for innovation, stage for entrepreneurship and opportunities for wealth creation in Sichuan. It is hoped that the activity will lead the returnees in Sichuan and Chongqing to contribute to the development of the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle.
Liu Qiang, Secretary of the Party Committee delivered a speech on behalf of CDU. He extended warm congratulations to the teams who had achieved excellent results in the competition and sincere gratitude to the departments that have been caring and supporting the development of CDU. He also introduced CDU's achievements made in the past 40 years. He expressed his expectation that this competition would not only promote the development of education and teaching and the internationalization of universities, but also promote the reform and development of universities in Sichuan and Chongqing, so as to serve the further development of the national strategy for the construction of Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle at a higher level and make a greater contribution to the cultivation of more international innovative talents.
The competition aims to lead returnees and foreign students from Sichuan and Chongqing to make use of their unique advantages such as professional expertise and international vision for national major strategies, and become a strong backing for the development of the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle. The competition, consisting of pre-competition training, preliminary stage and final stage, covers various fields, including modern agriculture, electronic information, equipment manufacturing, food and beverage, advanced materials, energy and chemical industry, digital economy and modern service industry.
Since the start of the competition, 89 out of 113 registered teams from Sichuan and Chongqing entered the preliminary stage, including 69 from Sichuan and 20 from Chongqing. In the end, a total of 20 teams, 10 from Sichuan and 10 from Chongqing, got through to the final. After the fierce final, there were two first prize winners, four second prize winners, six third prize winners and eight excellence award winners. CDU was awarded the Special Contribution Award for the competition.
Xia Yangsong, Member of the Party Leading Group and Deputy Director of Chongqing Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau, Xie Fengshan, Second-level Inspector of the Education Department of Sichuan Province, and Peng Xiaolin, Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of CDU, were also present at the award ceremony. In addition, there were also entrepreneurship mentors, all the finalists, and representatives of college students who are interested in innovation and entrepreneurship, and functionaries of the Human Resources and Social Security Department (Bureau) and the Education Department (Committee) of Sichuan and Chongqing.
