In order to deepen foreign friends' understanding of China and promote the friendly exchange between China and other countries, on July 9, the university's overseas students, foreign teachers and their family members visited the History Museum of Sichuan Provincial People's Congress. Zhu Xinhua and Yan Dengcheng, Director and Deputy Director of the Foreign and Overseas Chinese Affairs Committee of Sichuan Provincial People's Congress, warmly received the visitors.
Located to the south of Jinjiang Auditorium, the History Museum of Sichuan Provincial People's Congress was officially opened in early 2017. The name of the museum was inscribed by the centenarian Ma Shitu, a contemporary Chinese writer, poet, calligrapher and former deputy director of the Standing Committee of Sichuan Provincial People's Congress. The museum has seven sections, namely prologue and institutional change, legislation, supervision, exercising the right to decide on major matters and appointing and removing personnel in accordance with the law, deputy work, self-building, and external exchanges. It showcases the struggle of Sichuan Provincial People's Congress and its Standing Committee, and vividly reproduces the glorious history of the people's congress system and the work of Sichuan Provincial People's Congress.
The museum displays many precious physical objects, such as the certificates, ballots, floating weel ballot box and the booklet "May Fourth Constitution", as well as valuable historical materials, including the original documents and videos. The visitors followed the docent, viewed the exhibits in the display order, and inquired from time to time about the construction of the museum and the source of the cultural relics in the museum.
NGUYEN THI THU, a student from Vietnam, said, "I have been in China for three years. It is a great honor for me to have this opportunity to visit the History Museum of Sichuan Provincial People's Congress. As a foreigner, through this visit, I deeply felt the struggle of the generation after generation of Chinese people's congress workers, feel the mission and belief of the older generation of deputies to the people's congress to put the interests of the people first and share weal and woe with the people, and have a deeper understanding of the Chinese people's congress system. I have graduated this year and I want to stay in China. I will try my best to share what I have seen and heard with my friends so that they can know a real China."
The foreign teachers and students who participated in the visit said that through this activity, they had a clearer and deeper understanding of China's fundamental political system — the people's congress system, and had a further understanding of the important role of the people's congress in China's national governance system. Such activities help them know more about China, become more willing to learn about the real China, and introduce what they have seen and heard to more people, playing a positive role in promoting closer ties between the peoples of all countries.
