On the morning of July 8, the founding congress of Confucius Institute of Sichuan (International Chinese Language Education) Alliance and Confucius Institute of Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle (International Chinese Language Education) Alliance was held in Sichuan Normal University. Eighty-nine representatives from Sichuan and Chongqing gathered in Chengdu to witness the establishment of the two alliances. Yu Yunfeng, Deputy Secretary General of Chinese International Education Foundation, Zhang Lantao, Deputy Director of the Education Department of Sichuan Province, Deng Rui, First Class Inspector of Chongqing Municipal Education Commission, Wang Mingyi, President of Sichuan Normal University attended the congress, as well as invited representatives from some provincial institutions in Sichuan Province and leaders and department heads of members of the two alliances. Zhang Haidong, Vice President of Sichuan Normal University, presided over the congress.

Deputy Secretary-General Yu Yunfeng, on behalf of Chinese International Education Foundation, extended warm congratulations on the establishment of the alliances. He also pointed out that in order to achieve better development in the new era, Confucius Institute must adhere to opening up, strengthen coordination, and keep innovating, so as to attract more support from all walks of life at home and abroad, continuously improve quality and efficiency, stimulate endogenous motivation, and ultimately create a win-win ecosystem for Confucius Institute. He hoped that the two alliances could become models of openness and cooperation, synergy and integration, innovation and development, and play a substantial role. 

Afterwards, relevant leaders and representatives of Chengdu-Chongqing Alliance unveiled the plaques of "Confucius Institute of Sichuan (International Chinese Language Education) Alliance" and "Confucius Institute of Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle (International Chinese Language Education) Alliance", and awarded them to the chairman, secretary, directors and member representatives of the alliances. Chengdu University was selected into the Confucius Institute of Sichuan (International Chinese Language Education) Alliance and the Confucius Institute of Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle (International Chinese Language Education) Alliance.

On the afternoon of the 8th, the first Development Forum of Confucius Institute of Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle (International Chinese Language Education) Alliance was successfully held. Representatives of universities, primary and secondary schools and enterprises from Sichuan, Chongqing and Beijing, based on their own school-running practices, discussed the construction of Confucius Institute in Sichuan and Chongqing, Confucius Institute and vocational education, Confucius Institute and the overseas communication of Bashu culture, the cooperation between Confucius Institute and Chinese-funded enterprises abroad, Confucius Institute and regional country studies, and shared school-running experience. As a representative, Prof. Du Jie, Director of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange of Chengdu University, shared the experience of building the Confucius Institute at the University of New Hampshire, USA. The launching ceremony of the "Charming Culture Global Tour" was also held at the forum. Zheng Hongying, Director of the International Exchange and Cooperation Office of Sichuan Normal University, presided over the forum.

It's reported that up to now, 7 universities in Sichuan Province have established 11 Confucius Institutes and 13 Confucius Classrooms in 8 countries on 3 continents.  In the past five years, Sichuan has sent more than 1,000 teachers and students overseas to carry out international Chinese education, and over 30,000 people have learned Chinese in Confucius Institute, Confucius Classrooms and overseas educational institutions. Chongqing has established 19 Confucius Institutes, 34 Confucius Classrooms, and 5 College of Chinese Teachers and Chinese language and culture centers in cooperation with 15 countries. The Confucius Institute of Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle (International Chinese Language Education) Alliance is the first inter-provincial alliance of Confucius Institute (International Chinese Language Education) in China.
