Prof. Du Jie is Invited to Give an Online Lecture on "Global Youth Leadership" to Faculty and Students of Mahidol University

Recently, at the invitation of the Faculty of Graduate Studies of Mahidol University, Prof. Du Jie, Director of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange and Dean of the Overseas Education College of Chengdu University (CDU), gave an online English lecture on "Developing Global Youth Leadership from A Sustainable Development Prospective" to the faculty and students for Mahidol University Alumni Time to upskill and reskill. Dr Aung Win Tun, Associate Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies of Mahidol University, presided over the lecture.

Prof. Du Jie firstly reviewed the general situation and main viewpoints of leadership research in the current global academic circle, analyzed the new global trend of the rapid changes and the increasingly deeper global interdependence that young people in the 21st century are facing, and proposed that youth leadership training should focus on global leadership from the perspective of sustainable development. Through the interpretation of 17 sustainable development goals in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development issued by the United Nations and of the response and practice of the global higher education community to the sustainable development goals of the United Nations, especially the quality education, she proposed that global higher education should be committed to the development of youth leadership, especially the global competence of young college students, and interpreted the concept of global competence, lifelong learning pathways, global diversity perspective and the concept of sustainable development one by one.


During the interactive communication, the faculty and students actively asked questions and had an in-depth communication. Everyone said they learned many new ideas and benefited a lot.

It's known that Mahidol University is the oldest institution of higher learning in Thailand. It has its origins in the establishment of Siriraj Hospital in 1888 and enjoys a high reputation in the fields of medicine, public health and natural sciences. And it's ranked 252nd in the QS World University Rankings 2021 and 2nd in Thailand in terms of overall strength.
