On the afternoon of May 31, Wolfgang Rudischhauser, Consul General of the German Consulate General in Chengdu, and his delegation visited Chengdu University. President Wang Qingyuan had a meeting with the Consul General and his delegation in the VIP Hall.
Wang Qingyuan said since its establishment of the university in 1978, Chengdu University, a comprehensive university jointly established by Sichuan Province and Chengdu City, has been always centering its orientation of school-running as “a first-class applied city university with distinctive characteristics in China” and making continuous efforts to expand its international exposure and reputation. At present, the university is ranking 249th in Shanghai Ranking’s Best Chinese Universities Ranking in 2021 and 163rd in the Chinese Universities’ "International Competitiveness" section thereof. As the site of the Athletes’ Village for the 31st FIFU Summer World University Games, Chengdu University will attach more attention to the improvement of its comprehensive soft power like disciplinary construction in addition to its increasingly perfected infrastructure facilities. Since Germany is taking a lead in the world in terms of its application-oriented education, Chengdu University is dedicated to remaining friendly communications with German colleges and universities. For example, the joint training program with German Technische Universität Clausthal has cultivated more than 10 high-level and international applied talents for both universities. The university is sincerely in hope to take the Consul General’s visit as an opportunity to carry on promoting and deepening the friendly cooperation and exchanges with Germany, in particular of diverse activities related to cultural exchanges and scientific research cooperation.
Wolfgang Rudischhauser expressed his gratitude to the university for the warm welcome and considerate arrangement. He said that the year of 2022 marks the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Germany and China, and German Consulate General in Chengdu also witnessed the 15th anniversary of its establishment last year, which signals a closer relation between the two countries. The two sides have reached a consensus and have shared a common vision to enhance the intimate communications in terms of education and culture between the two countries. He was so glad to see that Chengdu University has been managed to lay a good foundation for further cooperation with German institutions and universities in fields of education and scientific research, especially the cooperation with Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn, Göttingen FH: Private Fachhochschule Göttingen, Hochschule Merseburg, University of Applied Sciences and governmental enterprises in Nordrhein-Westfalen in fields of food industry and clinical medicine. German Consulate General in Chengdu is greatly willing to provide support for Chengdu University to approach more academic institutions in Germany so as to further strengthen the mergence and integration of education, culture and scientific research resources between Germany and China.
Following the meeting, the Consul General and his delegation had a seminar on deep academic communication with professors and scholars who studied abroad in Germany, and visited Sichuan Key Laboratory for Meat Processing. Heads from Office of International Cooperation and Exchange and School of Food and Biological Engineering attended the meeting.
