On the afternoon of April 6, our university held a video conference with Yeungnam University of South Korea. Peng Xiaolin, Vice President, and Joo Sang-woo, Vice President of School of International Studies, Yeungnam University, South Korea, had an in-depth discussion on the future cooperation between the two universities via video link.
At the meeting, Joo Sang-woo said that Chengdu University is one of the most important Chinese partners of Yeungnam University. Since the establishment of friendly relations in 2015, the two universities have carried out many substantive cooperations in international exchanges. It is hoped that the two universities will continue to carry out exchanges and cooperations and establish a long-term cooperative partnership. He pointed out that Choi Oe-chool, the new president, attaches great importance to the cooperation and exchange with Chengdu University, and that the online communication between the leaders of the two universities during the COVID-19 pandemic has strengthened the willingness of both sides to continue their cooperation and strengthened their confidence in future cooperation. Yeungnam University will further improve the quality and efficiency according to the actual needs of teachers and students of Chengdu University, support the expansion of the scale of international program training, promote student exchange programs, the joint training program for undergraduate and postgraduate students, the undergraduate dual-degree program, and renew the cooperation agreement between the two universities.
Peng Xiaolin expressed her sincere congratulations and best wishes to Choi Oe-chool as the 16th President of Yeungnam University and Joo Sang-woo as the Vice President of the School of International Studies. She also expressed her gratitude and respect to former President Sur Gil-soo for his concern and support to the cooperation between the two universities in the past few years. Peng Xiaolin expressed her great pleasure to meet Vice President Joo Sang-woo and the new team of the International Office of Yeungnam University online in this special period of COVID-19. She reviewed the achievements and experience in the cooperation between the two universities. She said that Chengdu University will continue to support its teachers and students to study overseas, promote the joint training of talents with overseas universities, and enhance the global competence of teachers and students.
