In the afternoon of February 23, the meeting between Chengdu University and Universiti Sains Malaysia to cooperate in applying for Biomedical Materials Research Institute was held in our university. The meeting was attended by Du Jie, Director of Office of International Cooperation and Exchange, Mou Lei, Deputy Director of Office of International Cooperation and Exchange, Liu Kunping, Deputy Director of Science and Technology Office, and those who are the core members of the Chinese team, including Associate Professor Chen Yu and Professor Dong Zhihong from the College of Mechanical Engineering of Chengdu University, Zhao Feng, Distinguished Research Fellow of Institute for Advanced Study, and Dr. Yan Yajing, representative of Professor Lan Hai's group from Affiliated Hospital of Chengdu University, and Dr. Tan Xing, representative of the Universiti Sains Malaysia team.
At the meeting, Du Jie introduced that in the early stage she had led an investigation tour to the Future Science and Technology City in Hi-tech Zone and advanced the site-school cooperation on scientific research. She said that Chengdu University and Universiti Sains Malaysia share a common vision of making progress and building academic ethos, and believed that the cooperation between the academic teams of the two universities would promote academic exchanges, scientific research cooperation, and talent training, and contribute to serving the high-quality development of the leading industries in Chengdu Hi-tech Zone and promoting international scientific research cooperation and the transformation of the achievements of industry-education integration between the universities.
Chengdu University's Biomedical Materials Research team is led by Professor Wang Qingyuan, President of Chengdu University while the scientific research team of Universiti Sains Malaysia is led by Dr. Fe Yee Yeoh, Director of the Academy-Industry Cooperation Department. Participants of two universities explained in detail the policies, mechanisms and service systems of the "Minshan Action", focusing on the needs of leading industries such as biomedicine and materials in the Chengdu Hi-tech Zone, and the problems of the industry chain segmentation. Both sides mentioned the feasibility of the two universities to build public technology platforms in related fields to achieve cooperation in the transformation of scientific and technological achievements. At the same time, they discussed the cooperation on building biomedical materials research institute and expressed preliminary ideas and programs regarding project application.
