In order to implement the innovation-driven development strategy advocated by the CPC Central Committee and the State Council, China Youth Daily and KAB National Promotion Office jointly launched "The Search for 2019-2020 Top College Student Entrepreneurs" campaign. The final results were revealed recently. Wu Boqiang, an alumnus graduated from the College of Mechanical Engineering of our university with a master's degree in agricultural mechanization, was named one of the top 100 college student entrepreneurs as the general manager of Chengdu Haiyi Mechanical and Electrical Equipment Co., Ltd.

He founded Chengdu Haiyi Mechanical and Electrical Equipment Co., Ltd. during his postgraduate studies and joined the CC National-Level Maker Space of our university in 2015, leading 5 postgraduate students in pursuit of entrepreneurship and innovation in response to the Party's and the State's call for "mass entrepreneurship and innovation". In the following 5 years, with tremendous support from the CC National-Level Maker Space, Wu Boqiang's team developed air-track intelligent inspection vehicles, pneumatic conveying systems for granular materials and lithium battery recycling systems in cooperation with China Railway Eryuan Engineering Group, Beihang University and Tianqi Lithium, and brought the products into large-scale application. Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, his team actively responded to the national call for combating the pandemic through scientific research and successfully developed portable ultrasonic fogging disinfection machines, which have now been put into mass production.

Wu Boqiang's team won the national bronze award of China College Students' Entrepreneurship Competition, the gold award of Sichuan Province Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition and the bronze award of Sichuan Province "Internet +" Competition in 2018; the first prize of "Challenge Cup" Sichuan Province College Students' Extracurricular Academic Science and Technology Works Competition and the finalist prize of Chinese Equipment "Innovation BINHAI-SEW CUP" Innovation Design Competition of Advanced Equipment in 2017. In 2019, Chengdu Haiyi Mechanical and Electrical Equipment Co., Ltd. was recognized as a high-tech enterprise in Sichuan Province.

It is reported that "The Search for Top College Student Entrepreneurs" is geared towards entrepreneurs that are still full-time students (including those who are on academic suspension) at colleges (including private colleges and vocational colleges) and entrepreneurs that have graduated from colleges for less than 5 years. It aims to discover and demonstrate the entrepreneurial stories of college students and select a number of representative figures who can serve as role models for entrepreneurship and innovation among young people, so as to improve innovation and entrepreneurship environment in colleges and encourage and support college students to participate in innovative and entrepreneurial projects in this new era. The list of the top 100 college student entrepreneurs for 2019-2020 was finalized based on the votes from the public, the scores given by the entrepreneurship community directors of hundreds of colleges as well as the reviews of experts. Since its debut in 2015, the campaign has become a showcase for outstanding college student entrepreneurs.
