On the morning of December 22, the conference of the8th Executive Council of the Chengdu People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries was held. Wang Fengchao, deputy secretary of the CPC Chengdu Municipal Committee, mayor of Chengdu, and new president of the Chengdu People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, delivered an important speech at the conference. He put forward the work requirements for the 8th Executive Council of the Association, hoping that the Association would seize the strategic opportunities in the new era, give full play to the advantages of non-governmental diplomacy, and continue to start a new phase for Chengdu's diplomatic initiatives by cultivating more international contacts who know, love and be friendly to Chengdu, telling Chengdu stories well, and spreading Chengdu's voice so as to present to the world a more diverse and comprehensive Chengdu full of opportunities and vitality.

Jiang Bin, standing vice president of the Chengdu People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, made a report on the work of the 7th Executive Council, and Li Li, full-time vice president of the Association, explained the composition of the 8th Executive Council. At the meeting, the list of standing members of the 8th Executive Council of the Association was passed by voting. Chengdu University's President Wang Qingyuan was elected as the executive director of the 8th Executive Council of the Association, and Chengdu University was shortlisted for the director unit.
