The World Event of 2021 WUG  The Global Focus of Chengdu University

On the occasion of the celebration of Chengdu University for its 42nd anniversary, the Launching Ceremony of Chengdu University English Version Website & Special Lecture on 2021 Chengdu WUG was held in the lecture hall of the new library on the morning of December 8. Wang Guangliang, full-time Deputy Director of the Foreign Affairs Liaison Department of the Executive Committee of the Chengdu 2021 FISU World University Games Summer (2021 Chengdu WUG), and Diao Weidong, Deputy Secretary-general of Sichuan Education Association for International Exchange (SEAIE), and others witnessed the official launch of the new English version website of Chengdu University. Wang Qingyuan, President and Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, attended the meeting and delivered a speech. Peng Xiaolin, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President, attended the meeting. Du Jie, Director of Office of International Cooperation and Exchange and Dean of College of Overseas Education, presided over the meeting.

Diao Weidong warmly congratulated the launch of the English version website, affirming that the launch of the new English version website of Chengdu University has marked a new stage in the internationalization of the university, and hoping that Chengdu University will continue to actively participate in the series of education internationalization work in Sichuan Province and contribute to the brand building of universities for international students studying in Sichuan.

In his speech, Wang Qingyuan summed up and affirmed the outstanding achievements of the internationalization strategy of the university during the 13th Five-Year Plan period and its contribution to the overall development of the university. He hoped that the university would take the lead in entering the top 100 in terms of internationalization during the 14th Five-Year Plan period, and promote the connotation construction of the university through the support of education internationalization. He said that the launch of the new English version website on the 42nd anniversary of the university is of great significance, which marks a new journey for the international development of the university. By taking the opportunity of launching the new version of English portal website and seizing the historical opportunity of the 2021 Chengdu WUG, the university should enhance its global linking strength to display Chengdu University, publicize Chengdu and the 2021 Chengdu WUG and tell the story of China well in the world.

Du Jie, Director of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange and Dean of College of Overseas Education, presided over the event and made a report on the implementation of internationalization strategy and the preparation of the English version website of Chengdu University.

The audience watched the English website framework and column demonstration. Overseas cooperative universities such as Chiang Mai University in Thailand, Waikato Institute of Technology in New Zealand, Yeungnam University in South Korea, Technische Universität Clausthal in Germany, University of New Hampshire and Washburn University in the United States, Zuyd University of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands, Universidad Complutense de Madrid in Spain, Wilfrid Laurier University in Canada, and Adamson University in the Philippines, as well as international friends, foreign experts and scholars, and overseas students, sent videos to congratulate the successful launch of the English portal and offer blessings for the 42nd anniversary of Chengdu University.

Wang Guangliang gave a lecture titled WUG History and Culture and 2021 Chengdu WUG to the teachers and students present, hoping that they would love the WUG and sports, and integrate the FISU’s concept of “Today’s Stars, Tomorrow's Leaders” into their participation in the WUG and personal growth.
