On the morning of December 1, the 8th Overseas Chinese Innovation and Entrepreneurship Achievement Exchange Activity of the All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese (ACFROC) was grandly held in the small auditorium of the Great Hall of the People. Padma Choling, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, Wan Gang, Vice Chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, Wan Lijun, Party Group Secretary and Chairman of the ACFROC, Li Zhuobin, Vice Chairman of the ACFROC, and Sui Jun, Party Group Member and Vice Chairman of the ACFROC, attended the event and presented awards to the winners. Wang Qingyuan, President and Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Chengdu University, won the second prize of the "Contribution Award for Returned Overseas Chinese".

The project "Mechanism of Ultra-long Life Fatigue Crack Initiation and Life Prediction" hosted by Wang Qingyuan won the second prize of the National Natural Science Award, and the results were applied to major equipment and projects such as engines, steam turbines and bridges. He presided over 8 major and outstanding projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China and more than 10 international cooperation projects of the Ministry of Science and Technology and of innovative teams of the Ministry of Education. From 2014 to 2019, he was selected as a highly cited scholar in Elsevier China for six consecutive years; the projects presided by him were awarded 3 first prizes of provincial and ministerial science and technology progress awards; he was awarded the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars and Outstanding Tianfu Scientist. He is also the president of the Chengdu Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese and the deputy director of the Special Expert Committee of Sichuan Provincial Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese. He was awarded the Advanced Individual of National Returned Overseas Chinese and Their Relatives.
