Sichuan Provincial Powder Metallurgy Engineering Technology Research Center is a ministerial-level scientific research platform approved and established in 2017. As an important part of modern industry, powder metallurgy plays an indispensable role in the national economy. There are industrial clusters and chains for powder metallurgy in Sichuan, so it is of great significance to establish the public technology service platform for research in the areas of powder metallurgy.

The center is equipped with advanced testing and analytic instruments, such as X-ray diffractometer, field emission scanning electron microscopes, simultaneous thermal analyzers, surface area analyzers, EBSD sample preparation system and high-performance computers, as well as advanced devices such as MTS fatigue testers, arc-melting furnaces, vacuum melting furnaces, spark plasma sintering systems and bi-directional hot-pressing sintering furnaces. Now multiple innovation teams have been organized to undertake research on powder metallurgy automobile parts, preparation of new carbide materials and related products, and ultra-long life fatigue and reliability of materials, aiming to meet the needs of national development, especially in the western regions. The establishment of innovative platforms for scientific research and technology services is conducive to solving the needs in the areas such as performance, process and product development of the materials in the regional industries as well as engineering technology services.
