As an important platform for Chengdu University to implement the internationalization strategy and an“incubator” for cultivating high-level international talents, the College of Overseas Education focuses on the talent cultivation features of "university-city integration, open collaboration, and regional application" to cultivate high-quality application-oriented talents with a sense of patriotism, global vision, knowledge of international rules, and ability to participate in international affairs and competition.
The College has trained more than 1,600 international students from 54 countries of origins. The College has launched 4 Sino-foreign cooperative education programs for undergraduate and diploma education projects: Sino-foreign cooperative education programs for Art Design majors (co-organized by Chengdu University and Waikato Institute of Technology), the Sino-foreign cooperative education program for Radio, Film and Television Production (co-organized by Chengdu University and Waikato Institute of Technology), the Sino-foreign cooperative education program for Engineering Cost (co-organized by Chengdu University and Yeungnam University in South Korea) and the Electrical Engineering and Automation undergraduate education program (co-organized by Chengdu University and Gachon University). Currently, there are 923 students enrolled in the programs.
The College takes the responsibility of providing foreign language teaching and academic planning for the multi-disciplinary and cross-disciplinary overseas joint training programs of our university from diploma to Ph.D. level, including more than 40 overseas joint training programs with 18 universities in 11 countries and regions, such as the master-doctoral Digital Innovation and Financial Technology program and the “1+2+1” Nursing undergraduate double-degree program of Chiang Mai University, and the “4+1+1” undergraduate and master's joint training program of Waikato Institute of Technology.
The College has a faculty with international vision, passion for international education, rich teaching experience and high professional quality. Currently, the College has 26 faculty members, including 1 Professor, 3 Associate Professors, 4 with Ph.D. degrees and 21 with master’s degrees (including 8 Ph.D.candidates), 70% of whom have overseas experience.
The College of Overseas Education adheres to the path of opening up to the outside world, upholds the concept of cultivating talents with good virtues, explores the educational model of integrating localization and internationalization, expands high-quality international cooperation resources, broadens the international vision of teachers and students, and builds a second overseas campus learning system and a sustainable global learning path for students. The College students can not only enjoy the high-quality educational resources of China and foreign countries, interact with international students and foreign teachers at zero distance, immerse themselves in the rich international learning environment and multi-cultural atmosphere, but also go out of the country, get more opportunities for overseas learning, intership and employment, and gain strength in realizing the goal of life.
