College of Nursing, College of Preclinical Medicine

The College of Nursing, College of Preclinical Medicine of Chengdu University, was formerly known as Chengdu Health School, a national key secondary school with a history of nearly 60 years. 

In April 2006, the school was incorporated into Chengdu University with the approval of the People’s Government of Sichuan Province and was renamed Medical & Nursing School of Chengdu University; in July 2009, the University established a new medical college to meet the needs of reform and adjuctment. 

In April 2015, it was renamed College of Preclinical Medicine and Nursing; in November 2015, it was renamed Medical College (College of Nursing);

In 2018, the first undergraduate students of stomatology technology were enrolled; in June 2020, it was finally renamed College of Nursing, College of Preclinical Medicine. It has three undergraduate specialties of Clinical Medicine, Nursing and Stomatology Technology.  

The College adheres to its motto of life first in terms of humanitarian care; science first as for humanistic care, while following the guideline of improving quality and paying attention to efficiency. Focusing on undergraduate education, actively exploring graduate education, developing adult education and continuing education, it has formed a multi-level, multi-form, multi-standard and multi-functional education system. 

At present, the College has a high-level teaching faculty, with more than 40 people with the title of the senior professional post, including more than 30 with a doctorate degree, more than 20 having studied in European and American countries, and more than 10 well-known experts, professors and researchers at home and abroad. In the past five years, teachers in this College have won two first prizes and three third prizes of Sichuan Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award; one second prize of Shanghai Science and Technology Progress Award; one second prize and one third prize of Shennong China Agricultural Science and Technology Award; one prize of the 18th Social Science Outstanding Achievement Award of Sichuan Province. Relying on the discipline advantages of an urban comprehensive university, following the principle of combining clinical and basic medicine, the school strengthens the cross integration and expansion of related specialties, takes the discipline construction as the guidance and highlights the construction of nursing talent team, aiming to cultivate applied talents with broad scientific knowledge, solid professional skills, and high quality.

The College attaches great importance to the construction of scientific research and teaching quality. In recent years, the teaching staff have conducted more than 100 scientific research projects at all levels and published more than 500 research papers, including 60 SCI papers as the first/corresponding author and 26 PKU papers; they also have published more than 60 academic works (including teaching materials). Among them, 13 were supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China; 20 were funded by the Ministry of Education and the Science & Technology Department of Sichuan Province; 7 won the provincial and ministerial scientific research awards. The school also has been granted 131 national patents (including 11 invention patents). The total fund is more than RMB 6 million (vertical). In 2014, the College obtained special support from various projects, such as Sichuan Province Elderly Health Science Base, Chengdu Municipal Nursing Key Disciplines, Elderly Care Collaborative Innovation Center of Chengdu University, Nursing Key (Support) Disciplines, Nursing Brand Majors. The Human Science and Medical Science Popularization Base was funded by Chengdu Science and Technology Bureau in 2016. The Biomedical Basic Experimental Teaching Center is one of the fifth batch of provincial university experimental teaching demonstration centers. Up to now, the College has obtained 7 industry-university cooperative education projects of Ministry of Education and 70 teaching reform projects at all levels, including 8 from the Ministry of Education and 5 provincial projects; it has 15 quality courses, including 2 provincial courses, 2 municipal courses; it owns 2 MOOCS courses, 8 flipped classroom courses, 8 "curriculum ideology 1212" projects, 9 first-class courses; 8 university-level teaching achievement awards. Teachers have won more than 10 awards in teaching competitions at all levels. It also sets up a university-level characteristic nursing teaching team and foreign nursing innovative talent training experimental zone. It also engaged in provincial and municipal teaching reform topics, such as“Reform of Teaching Plan for Foreign Nursing Specialties”, and“Research and Practice on the Reform of Foreign Nursing Talent Training Modes”. The College has integrated and established the medical morphology and function experimental center, clinical skill experimental center, and biomedical platform and other teaching and research systems.
