
To thoroughly implement the national digital education strategy, promote the deep integration of new-generation information technologies such as artificial intelligence and big data into education, and develop a globally minded faculty with cross-cultural communication skills and international comparative research competencies, Chengdu University (CDU) sent 20 key teachers to Singapore from November 16 to 29 for the “Teachers’ Digital Literacy and Smart Teaching Capacity Enhancement Workshop”.

Themed “Digital Literacy and Smart Teaching Capacity Enhancement”, the workshop adopted a “thematic lectures + on-site teaching” and offered a systematic curriculum. During the program, the delegation visited world-class universities including the National University of Singapore and Nanyang Technological University, as well as Singapore’s Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR). They observed and experienced firsthand applications of artificial intelligence and big data in teaching, and innovative practices in smart campus development, AI-assisted instructional design, data-driven teaching evaluation, interdisciplinary curriculum development, and industry–academia–research collaboration. Through thematic lectures, on-site sessions, and group seminars, the delegation systematically studied Singapore’s established practices, including the key competency framework for teachers in the digital era and its cultivation, as well as the industry–academia–research collaborative education mechanisms. The delegation also visited industry–education integration sites such as Singapore’s Punggol Digital District and the Smart Manufacturing Demonstration Factory (SMT Technology), gaining an in-depth understanding of how Singapore co-builds smart education and innovation practice bases through government–school–enterprise cooperation to promote the organic linkage among the education, talent, industry, and innovation chains.

The participating teachers agreed that this program broadened their international perspectives and underscored the global trend and urgency of digital transformation in higher education. They will bring the advanced concepts and practical experience gained in Singapore to CDU, actively explore AI-enhanced teaching, data-driven assessment, and reforms of blended teaching models, promote the shift in classroom instruction from “experience-driven” to “data-driven”, and help build a high-quality smart education ecosystem at CDU .
CDU will take this training as an opportunity to continue strengthening exchanges and cooperation with top universities in Singapore, providing solid support for cultivating high-quality application-oriented talents for the digital age.
