On May 8, Clarivate Analyticsreleased the latest ESI (Essential Science Indicators) data for May 2025. The data shows that Chengdu University'sEngineering, Agriculture, Materials Science, and Chemistry disciplines have entered the global top 0.5%, ranking among high-level academic fields and marking a significant milestone in the university's comprehensive academic strength and international influence.The university continues to rise in the ESI rankings in Clinical Medicine and Pharmacology & Toxicology, while its Computer Science and Biology & Biochemistry demonstrate strong development momentum.Chengdu University has achieved notable progress in the overall rankings, securing the 197th position nationally and advancing to 1,802nd internationally—a rise of 172 spots in the global rankings. This accomplishment makes Chengdu University the most improved among universities within the top 200 of the latest ESI rankings for the Chinese mainland.

In recent years, Chengdu University has deeply integrated into national strategies, including the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle. Leveraging high-end platforms like the National Supercomputing Center, the university has built an innovative ecosystem to gather talent through platforms and cultivate talent through projects.By enhancing university-industry collaboration and optimizing resource allocation, the number of its highly cited ESI papers has doubled, and the international influence of its disciplines has significantly increased.
In the future, the university will build on its new foundation, focusing on key industries such as biomedicine, new materials, green food, and equipment manufacturing, as well as strategic emerging fields like the low-altitude economy, next-generation information technology, and new energy.
