On May 10, the Foreign Affairs Office of Sichuan Province held an awarding ceremony for the third batch of "Key Units for Foreign Visits in Sichuan." Six units in the province, including the China Shuangbao Cultural and Art Gallery of Chengdu University, were awarded as "Key Units for Foreign Visits in Sichuan." Zhang Tao, Director of the Foreign Affairs Office of Sichuan Province, presented plaques to the six units and delivered a speech. Xue Kang, Director of the China Shuangbao Cultural Research Center of Chengdu University, presented An Illustrated Philatelic Handbook on Giant Pandas and An Illustrated Philatelic Handbook on Golden Monkeys to the Foreign Affairs Office of Sichuan Province. Yang Xi, Deputy Director of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange of Chengdu University, and Ran Yisong, Director of the International Department of the College of Chinese & ASEAN Arts, also participated in the event.
Zhang Tao mentioned Sichuan Province's active efforts in embracing high-quality development under the Belt and Road Initiative, serving the development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt and the construction of the New Western Land-Sea Corridor, promoting the new provincial image, opening up new pathways, expanding into new markets, and accelerating the establishment of a strategic highland for westward opening-up and a new base for participating in international competition. The Foreign Affairs Office of Sichuan Province has actively responded to the requirements of high-quality development in the new era, explored and established a working mechanism for awarding plaques to "Key Units for Foreign Visits in Sichuan," and actively created new windows and new name cards for international exchanges, fully demonstrating the new image and new actions of Sichuan's opening-up to the outside world. As the third batch of "Key Units for Foreign Visits in Sichuan," six high-quality units in the fields of agriculture, culture, aerospace, food, and rural revitalization were awarded. They will inject new vitality into Sichuan Province's opening-up cause and collectively enhance the province's splendid presence on the international stage.
China Shuangbao Cultural and Art Gallery is located in Building 8 of the College of Chinese & ASEAN Arts on the Fenghuangshan campus of Chengdu University, with a total construction area of over 1,200 square meters. It is currently the only cultural, art, and science popularization base in Sichuan concerning both giant pandas and golden monkeys, exhibiting works related to giant panda and golden monkey culture, art, and science popularization to the public. The gallery comprises sections for literature and science popularization, photographic art, philatelic culture, cultural creativity related to giant pandas and golden monkeys, cultural exchange, the Ode to the Two National Treasures, multimedia exhibitions, and a large giant panda sculpture. With giant pandas and golden monkeys as the theme of science popularization and culture and art as the form of expression, the gallery vividly displays and disseminates the natural beauty of the ecological environment, advocates public attention, care, and love for wild animals such as giant pandas and golden monkeys, and promotes the protection of world biodiversity. Since its opening, the gallery has received nearly 10,000 visits from various officials, guests, and the general public. It has garnered extensive publicity coverage from dozens of important domestic and international media outlets, including Xinhua News Agency, People's Daily Online, Xuexi Qiangguo, Sichuan Daily, and Asian Chinese Travel Satellite TV. In April 2023, the gallery welcomed a delegation of high-level leaders from 21 countries and 28 overseas Chinese media outlets organized by China News Service; during the Chengdu 31st FISU World University Games, the gallery held a "Giant Panda and Golden Monkey Culture, Art, and Science Popularization Exhibition" at the FISU Games Village and showcased related cultural and artistic works at multiple venues such as Chengdu Museum, Tianfu Art Park, Panda Art Museum of the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, and Fang Suo Commune.
