On the morning of March 21, a delegation led by Ruslan Smirnov (Р. И. Смирнов), Director of the Education Department of Gomel Region, Belarus, visited Chengdu University.Vice President Peng Xiaolin warmly received the guests in Meeting Room A102 of the Administrative Service Center. The two sides exchanged views on education cooperation.

Peng Xiaolin extended a warm welcome to the guests and introduced them to the history, positioning, educational philosophy, and international development strategy of Chengdu University. She mentioned that Chengdu University, as an application-oriented urban university encompassing ten academic disciplines, operates a university-level first-class undergraduate program construction site under the Ministry of Education's "Double Ten Thousand Plan". In recent years, the university has made significant progress in areas such as the Nature Index, highly cited papers, and the effectiveness of talent cultivation, becoming one of the fastest-growing universities in China. Following the signing of a cooperation memorandum between the Education Department of Sichuan Province and the Education Department of Gomel Region in September 2023, relations between Sichuan and Gomel have continued to warm, with increasingly close economic and trade cooperation and lively people-to-people and cultural exchanges. The visit has strengthened bilateral ties in the field of education, laying a solid foundation for future educational exchanges and cooperation between China and Belarus.

Smirnov expressed his gratitude for the warm reception at Chengdu University and highly praised the university's international approach to education and its achievements. He mentioned that this exchange constituted a further step in deepening substantial educational cooperation between China and Belarus following the signing of a cooperation agreement between Chengdu University and Francisk Skorina Gomel State University. He expressed his hope that the two sides would strengthen exchanges and cooperation in areas such as language learning, faculty and student visits, and resource sharing. He also expressed his desire for Chengdu University to provide more platform projects and convenient conditions to facilitate exchange programs for Belarusian teachers and students. Additionally, Smirnov introduced the education system in Gomel Region and the specific needs of teachers and students from Gomel who wish to study at Chengdu University.

The head of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange of Chengdu University introduced the university's relevant overseas study programs and answered all questions raised by the delegation.

After the meeting, the guests visited the Welcome Centre of FISU Games Village and the university library.
