The Chengdu FISU World Conference of Chengdu 2021 FISU World University Games was held in Chengdu from July 29 to 31. With the theme of "University Sports: Embracing a Colourful World", the conference centered on topics of sports, health, technology, and culture and aimed to promote international exchanges and cooperation in university sports. More than 530 experts and academics from 30 different countries and regions, including the United States, Australia, Germany, Argentina, Finland, Switzerland, and Singapore, attended the conference. The conference consisted of a variety of activities, including keynote speeches, panel discussions, parallel sessions, poster displays, sporting events, and city cultural programs. Top experts in related fields at home and abroad engaged in discussions about the frontiers, hotspots and innovations of university sports development research.

Li Ruojun, a young teacher from the College of Foreign Languages and Cultures at Chengdu University (CDU), was invited to serve as a simultaneous interpreter at the conference. Her performance earned recognition from both the conference organizers and participants. The participation of young foreign language teachers in major events that contribute to the internationalization and development of the city reflects the outstanding achievements of CDU’s foreign language faculty construction, and also highlights the important role of foreign language speakers in serving the city and the national strategy.

The FISU World Conference is the highest-level educational activities of FISU and one of the series activities of the Universiade. With a history of 63 years, it has been successfully held for 28 sessions so far, becoming an important exchange among experts and scholars from all over the world. The conference attracted more than 530 experts and scholars from 30 countries and regions and received a total of 5,469 papers from 199 higher education institutions and research institutes around the world, making the large number ever. A total of 1,438 excellent papers were selected.
