Recently, the Ministry of Education (MOE) announced the list of 2022 National Teaching Achievements Award winners. The teaching achievement of Chengdu University (CDU), as the first completion unit, won the second prize in the 2022 National Teaching Achievements Award for Higher Education (Undergraduate). The awarded project was titled University-city, Sino-Foreign, and Multi-dimensional Integration: Exploration and Practices of Cultivating International, Application-oriented Talent in Local Universities. This is the first National Teaching Achievements Award for Higher Education (Undergraduate) won by CDU in its 45 years of existence. It is also the only non-double-tier university in Sichuan Province that won the award as the first completion unit.

The idea of cultivating international application-oriented talent in China was formed under the general pattern of accelerating the development of international gateway and hub city of Chengdu, which was officially approved by the State Council for regional planning in 2011. In accordance with the university-running idea of "promoting open and collaborative education through deep university-city integration", CDU has made every effort to promote the convergence of the urban education resources into the talent cultivation ecosystem, the integration of international cooperation resources to the talent cultivation ecosystem, the fusion of international cooperation resources to the education and teaching system, and the multidimensional means of integration to the goal of educating human beings. After more than a decade of exploration and practice, CDU has formed a new concept of nurturing people through university-city integration, optimized a new mechanism of resource convergence, and explored a new path of collaborative cultivation by multidimensional integration. Moreover, it has systematically built up a collaborative cultivation system for international application-oriented talent in local universities, and has achieved remarkable results in talent cultivation, scientific research, social service, international exchanges and cooperation, as well as cultural inheritance.

The National Teaching Achievements Award is evaluated every four years. It is one of the four major national awards, together with the National Natural Science Award, the National Technological Invention Award, and the National Science and Technology Progress Award. The winning achievements represent the highest level of education and teaching work in China. This award has showcased that the pioneering exploration and practical innovation of CDU in international application-oriented talent cultivation for more than ten years have been recognized at the national level. Moving forward, CDU will grasp the new situation and requirements for higher education development and give full play to the demonstration and leading role of the National Teaching Achievements Award. It will continue to deepen the education and teaching reform, push forward high quality development, and do well in cultivating high-level teaching achievements and improve the education and teaching level of CDU.

It is also noted that the teaching achievement titled Integrating Theories and Skills to Cultivate people: The Development and Practice of Excellent Textile-related Culture Education System Under Ideological and Political Guidance completed by CDU as the second completion unit won the second prize of the 2022 National Teaching Achievements Award for Vocational Education. It is the second National Teaching Achievements Award that CDU has won for vocational education since its establishment.
