President of Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno Visited CDU with a Delegation

On the afternoon of June 14, Kiturka Irina, President of Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno, made a visit to Chengdu University (CDU) with a delegation. Liu Qiang, Secretary of CDU's Party Committee, and Peng Xiaolin, Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of CDU, warmly welcomed guests in the Reception Hall of the Academic Exchange Center. The two universities engaged in comprehensive exchanges and discussions regarding the advancement of educational and scientific research cooperation.

Liu Qiang cordially greeted the guests and presented an overview of CDU's history and mission, as well as recent accomplishments in implementing its strategies regarding talent cultivation, characteristic positioning, and international development. As an application-oriented city university, CDU has made remarkable progress in international university authoritative rankings, the Nature Index, and highly cited theses. Liu Qiang stated that CDU is willing to establish friendly and cooperative relations with Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno. He hopes that the signing of the inter-university cooperation memorandum between the two universities will promote wider and higher-level collaboration between the two sides in discipline construction, talent training, scientific research cooperation, cultural exchanges, and other fields, and foster more fruitful results.

Irina expressed her gratitude for CDU's gracious reception and proceeded to provide an overview of the history and discipline construction of Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno. She stated that Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno is renowned in Belarus for its exceptional teaching quality and scientific research accomplishments. She expressed her desire to establish a cooperative relationship with CDU to promote international collaboration in academic programs. The two universities will develop joint training programs such as "2+2" or "3+1", in which students participating in the programs will study for 2 or 3 years at Chengdu University before proceeding to Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno for a duration of either 2 or 1 year(s), encourage mutual exchanges between faculty and students, and enhance talent cultivation and scientific research.

Leaders of the two universities jointly signed a memorandum on inter-university cooperation. According to the memorandum, the two universities will engage in comprehensive cooperation in scientific research, academic programs, and international exchange of faculty and students.

After the meeting, the guests visited the Universiade Village for the 31st FISU Summer World University Games 2021. Paulau Liavontsi, Vice President of Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno was also present during this visit. Relevant leaders from the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange of CDU attended the meeting.
