On the afternoon of April 26, a delegation of 32 members from the Philippines-China Cultural and Educational Association visited Chengdu University (CDU). The delegation was accompanied by Liu Yiqin, Vice Chairman of the All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese (ACFROC) and Chairman of the Sichuan Provincial Returned Overseas Chinese Federation. The distinguished guests watched the "China with Love - Welcome the Universiade" performance sponsored by the ACFROC, and then visited the Universiade stadium. Wang Xiaojun, the CDU Leader, greeted the delegation at A102 of the Administrative Support Center of the Universiade.
Wang Xiaojun extended a warm welcome to the visit of Vice Chairman Liu and the delegation of the Philippines-China Cultural and Educational Association, and gave a detailed introduction of CDU’s development, international cooperation, and friendly exchanges with ASEAN countries. Wang Xiaojun hoped that CDU could continue to help strengthen the collaboration and exchanges between China and the Philippines, and other ASEAN countries.
Wang Shuhou, President of the Philippines-China Cultural and Educational Association, said that the association is committed to promoting economic and cultural exchanges as well as friendly relations between the Philippines and China. The association enthusiastically support education and social welfare in the Philippines and the home country, building bridges of friendship between the Filipino and Chinese people for generations to come. Additionally, the association aims to make efforts to promote cooperation and exchanges among educational institutions of the two countries in various fields.
Liu Yiqin said that China and the Philippines are neighboring nations with a shared maritime connection, and a thousand-year history of friendly relations. The two countries are related by blood, culture and people, and have a long tradition of friendship. Friendship between nations lies in the closeness of people. It is our hope that the Philippines-China Cultural and Educational Association will actively act as an ambassador of people-to-people exchanges and make new contributions to the promotion of friendly cooperation and exchanges between the two nations.
Relevant members of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange as well as the College of Chinese & ASEAN Arts also attended the meeting.
