CDU's East China Alumni Association Established

On April 15, the inauguration ceremony of the East China Alumni Association of Chengdu University (CDU) was held at Shanghai IBP Convention Center. The association is established to unite CDU alumni who are currently residing in East China and to expand the reach and impact of the university. Peng Xiaolin, Vice President, and Executive Vice President of the General Alumni Association of Chengdu University, attended the ceremony and delivered a speech. Relevant principals and teacher representatives from the College of Computer Science, Business School, Law School, School of Fine Arts and Design, Student Affairs Office and Alumni Affairs Office attended the ceremony. Representatives from Shanghai-based alumni associations of Sichuan University, Chengdu University of Information Technology, Xihua University and other sister universities attended the ceremony upon invitation, alongside enterprises such as Shanghai Liqu Enterprise Management Consulting Co., Ltd., Shanghai Tenggou Architectural Design Co., Ltd. More than 50 CDU alumni from Shanghai, Hangzhou, Shaoxing, Wenzhou and other places gathered together to witness the establishment of the East China Alumni Association of CDU.

Peng Xiaolin, on behalf of the university, extended her congratulations on the establishment of the East China Alumni Association of CDU and sincerely thanked all the enthusiastic alumni. During her speech, she also shared with the alumni the university's recent accomplishments in student training, scientific research, discipline construction, and international exchanges. The establishment of the East China Alumni Association of CDU has presented an emotional platform for alumni to connect and engage with each other, while also providing a robust support system and organizational assurance for exchanges and collaborations between the university and its alumni. Peng Xiaolin expressed a strong desire for the alumni association to play a pivotal role in fostering stronger connections among alumni and between alumni and their alma mater. She further added that the association should gather various powers to foster the further development of CUD, and make greater contributions to the society by carrying out various activities, so as to strengthen emotional bonds among alumni, foster deeper cooperation and exchanges and help alumni pursue greater career development.

During the ceremony, Wang Botao, an alumnus of CDU's law program enrolled in 2002, and a member of the Preparatory Group of CDU's East China Alumni Association, presented a report on the progress made in the preparatory work for the association. Ruan Yuhong, an alumnus who graduated from the advertising program in 2002, introduced the design concept of the emblem for the East China Alumni Association of CDU during the ceremony. Yang Yang, Director of the Alumni Affairs Office and Secretary-General of the General Alumni Association of CDU, read out the official approval issued by CDU regarding the establishment of its East China Alumni Association.

According to the agenda, the list of candidates for the association was presented, which is unanimously approved by the attendees. Su Su, a 1996 alumnus of CDU's food processing program, was then successfully elected as the president of the East China Alumni Association of CDU. Peng Xiaolin announced the official establishment of the East China Alumni Association of CDU at the ceremony. She also awarded the license to the association and issued a letter of appointment to the newly-elected president on behalf of the university. Xiao Xiaoqiong, Secretary of the Party Committee of the College of Computer Science, issued letters of appointment to the newly-elected vice president and secretary-general. Tu Jing, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the Business School, issued a letter of appointment to the newly elected deputy secretary-general.

Su Su, on behalf of the East China Alumni Association of CDU, extended a warm welcome to the leaders and teachers from his alma mater. He said that the establishment of the East China Alumni Association of CDU represents the pioneering and resilient spirit advocated by CDU alumni residing in Shanghai and neighboring provinces such as Jiangsu and Zhejiang. Despite the wide geographical difference of around 1,900 kilometers spanning between Chengdu and Shanghai, alumni continue to harbor strong emotional connections with their alma mater. He pledged to fulfill the expectations of CDU alumni and endeavor to extend the reach and influence of the association. He emphasized that he will proactively mobilize alumni to participate in various association activities, strengthen emotional bonds within the alumni community, and actively seek suggestions for both the development of the alma mater and the enhancement of alumni work. At the same time, the association will also take the initiative to strengthen contact with alumni associations of sister universities situated in Shanghai to promote exchanges and cooperation.

Zhao Shunxing, Vice President of the Shanghai Alumni Association of Sichuan University, said that the alumni association should strive to fulfill its primary function of "serving alumni, alma mater, and society", and take the initiative to tap into its own potential to leverage and pool various resources from the alumni, chamber of commerce, and society to achieve greater collective impact. Lin Fei, Deputy Secretary-General of the Shanghai Alumni Association of the Chengdu University of Information Technology, spoke of the benefits an alumni association platform can offer, such as the sharing of financial, medical, and educational resources, and expressed the vision of collaborating with the alumni associations of sister universities to promote common development.

To promote university-enterprise cooperation and foster common development, Shi Ya, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Law School of CDU, signed a university-enterprise cooperation agreement with Shanghai Zhihe Partners to realize the common development of alumni-led enterprises and the alma mater. Adhering to the concept of fostering common development and sharing accomplishments by partnering with fellow alumni, Peng Xiaolin has taken the initiative to set up several employment practice bases in alumni-led enterprises in collaboration with fellow alumni by leveraging the platform provided by the East China Alumni Association of CDU. She awarded licenses to several companies, including Shanghai Xiaobainiu Supply Chain Management Co., Ltd., Shanghai Shenqi Gift Co., Ltd., Shanghai Fanxun Network Technology Co., Ltd., Shanghai Yiyang Advertising Co., Ltd., and Shanghai Zhihe Partners, as distinguished institutions for the employment practice bases of CDU.

Ma Liwa, Director of the Product Design Department at the School of Fine Arts and Design, emphasized the special bond that exists between teachers and students. She reiterated that regardless of their achievements and successes after graduation, students are always considered as one of their own by the faculty, and that the alma mater stands as a reliable foundation to support their future development. She expressed her hope that alumni can continue to grow and make positive contributions to society as individuals possessing broad horizons and open minds with the best wishes of their alma mater and teachers. Zhou Zhili, a 2001 alumnus majoring in computer art and design, believed that alumni affection serves as a natural extension and an elevation of the unbreakable bonds shared by teachers, students, and classmates. Zhou welcomes the establishment of the East China Alumni Association of CDU as it provides a convenient platform to promote effective interactions and foster closer ties among teachers and students of all levels within the East China region. CDU alumni have been concerned about the past, present and future of their alma mater, and have always been proud of being a member of it. Liu Quanlin, a 2002 alumnus who majored in law, expressed his heartfelt gratitude towards his alma mater and teachers for providing him with excellent training and valuable skills. He said the establishment of the East China Alumni Association of CDU will provide a platform and a warm haven for CDU alumni drifting in the East China region to strengthen their bonds and exchanges. Ye Yongling, a 2006 alumnus of the Department of Painting, shared her experience of participating in the preparation and establishment of the Guangdong Alumni Association and the East China Alumni Association of CDU. She said that CDU is the foundation that supports alumni wherever they go, and it is like a big family that nurtures their growth and a place where they spent their vibrant youth period. She encouraged alumni to continue to actively promote the spirit of the alumni association and to bring more energy and warmth to alumni. Fan Yongqiang, a 2006 alumnus of civil engineering, expressed his immense pride in the remarkable progress achieved by his alma mater. According to him, the East China Alumni Association of CDU is established to foster connections between the university and its alumni, while also serving as a communication bridge for all parties involved to interact and establish friendships, share resources, and work towards a shared vision of development. Fan added that they will strive to expand the influence of their alma mater across East China relying on the platform provided by the East China Alumni Association of CDU.
