Opening Ceremony of 2023 Chengdu·Indonesia Culture Week - Film Festival Held in CDU

On March 14, the opening ceremony of the 2023 Chengdu·Indonesia Culture Week - Film Festival was held at the Chengdu-ASEAN Arts Center of the College of Chinese & ASEAN Arts, Chengdu University (CDU), sponsored by the Foreign Affairs Office of the Chengdu Municipal People's Government and the Embassy of Indonesia in China, co-organized by Xihua University and the College of Chinese & ASEAN Arts of CDU, and backed up by the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Indonesia and the ASEAN-China Centre. Djauhari Oratmangun, Ambassador of Indonesia to China, Shi Zhongjun, Secretary-General of ASEAN-China Centre, and Jiang Bin, Director of Foreign Affairs Office of Sichuan Province attended and delivered speeches. Lu Kang, Ambassador of China to Indonesia, delivered a video address. Guests also include diplomatic envoys from ASEAN countries, and leaders of Xihua University and CDU.

At the opening ceremony, the well-presented Chinese version of the Indonesian folk song Sing Sing So, along with batik folk costumes with Indonesian characteristics, brought a visual feast to the audience, thus winning bursts of applause.

The ceremony is followed by the premiere film exhibition of the Film Festival at the Grand Theater of Chengdu-ASEAN Arts Center, which gathered all guests and audience to watch the Indonesian film Traveler Trinity. Permeating with earthy and genuine audio-visual aesthetic perception in Indonesian films, film-makers capture the frames of the natural landscape by harnessing sharp sensibility and recording the traces of time in highly sensible images, making film and life, art and daily life, fantasy and reality mingle with each other.

Before the opening ceremony, Liu Qiang, Secretary of the CPC Committee of CDU accompanied Djauhari Oratmangun, Shi Zhongjun and diplomatic envoys from ASEAN countries to visit the College of Chinese & ASEAN Arts. They spoke highly of the international development of the College, particularly of the artistic and cultural exchanges with ASEAN countries. The guests took pictures at intervals while visiting the Institute of Traditional Crafts.

As Chinese President Xi Jinping said, "Friendship between the peoples holds the key to sound state-to-state relations, and heart-to-heart communication contributes to deeper friendship". Chengdu and Indonesia will take the opportunity of 2023 Chengdu·Indonesia Culture Week - Film Festival to further deepen people-to-people exchanges and cooperation. The College of Chinese & ASEAN Arts will keep leveraging its artistic and cultural strengths on the existing basis, and carrying forward and promoting the traditional friendship between China and Indonesia, thus contributing to the mutual learning of civilizations and people-to-people bonds between the two countries, the development of China-Indonesia comprehensive strategic partnership, and the building of China-Indonesia community with a shared future.
