Cai Guangjie, Deputy Director of the Education Department of Sichuan Province, Visits CDU and Conducts Field Research on International Cooperation and Exchanges

On the morning of November 8, Cai Guangjie, Deputy Director of the Education Department of Sichuan Province, and his delegation came to our university to research and guide international cooperation and exchange work. Liu Qiang, Secretary of the Party Committee of Chengdu University (CDU), met with the guests, accompanied by Peng Xiaolin, Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President. The two parties had in-depth exchanges on international cooperation and exchanges at our university.


Liu Qiang extended a warm welcome to the guests and gave his heartfelt gratitude to the Education Department of Sichuan Province for its constant care and strong support to CDU. He said that CDU is constantly studying and publicizing the spirit of the 20th Party Congress and promoting the high-quality development of the university in the new era. Meanwhile, he introduced the history, characteristics, and achievements of CDU. In particular, CDU is currently facing two major tasks: To become accredited as a doctoral program base and to host the 31st FISU Summer World University Games in Chengdu. He stressed that CDU takes international development as one of the three major development strategies. For years, CDU insists on education opening to the outside world, actively promotes the development of an international reputation, and continuously improves the level of international cooperation and exchange. The focus for future work will be on deeply and diligently promoting the construction of a city university with distinctive features and international reputation, especially under the guidance, care, and support of the Education Department of Sichuan Province.

Cai Guangjie expressed his appreciation for CDU's rapid and quality improvement in recent years and its future plan, as well as his support for innovative initiatives, and achievements made in international cooperation and exchange work. She hoped that CDU will thoroughly study and implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, position itself as an internationally renowned application-oriented city university with distinctive characteristics at home and abroad, continue to take the opportunity to build an international cooperation system of "going global and bringing in", adhere to the direction of socialist education, continue to explore the cultivation of students' global competencies, and do a good job in the practical exploration of "international cooperation + united front" so as to provide experience and models for education opening up in Sichuan.

Du Jie, Director of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange, gave a detailed presentation on the connotation and development of our internationalization strategy in recent years, three core projects and a five-year action plan of the internationalization strategy, the building of the university's international reputation and international communication capacity, as well as the goals and prospects in the new era.

After the meeting, Peng Xiaolin, Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President, accompanied the visit to Stirling College, the International Division of the College of Chinese & ASEAN Arts, Institute of Traditional Crafts, and Art Museum.

Attendees of the meeting included Li Honglin, the first-level researcher of the Department of Foreign Exchange and Cooperation of the Education Department of Sichuan Province; Gao Yuan, the head of the International Exchange Section of the Foreign Exchange Center; Wu Jienan from the Department of Foreign Exchange and Cooperation, and the relevant leaders in charge of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange, the College of Overseas Education, the School of Fine Arts and Design at the College of Chinese & ASEAN Arts, the International Division and the Stirling College.
