Students of the College of Chinese & ASEAN Arts won one gold, two silver and two bronze awards as well as several excellence awards in the Youth Artwork Competition in Celebrating the 30th Anniversary of ASEAN-China Dialogue Relations jointly organized by the ASEAN-China Centre, the Foreign Affairs Office of Chengdu Municipal People's Government, and the College of Chinese & ASEAN Arts of Chengdu University (CDU).
With the theme of "Advance Mutual Learning among Civilizations and Map out a Brighter Future", the competition was open for university students and artists from China and ASEAN countries. The works collected covered calligraphy, painting, music, photography, and short videos, among others, and a total of 24 award-winning works and 56 excellent works were selected for the painting and calligraphy group and the new media group. The original dance "Niu Miao" of the School of Music and Dance won the gold award in the new media group, the work "Chuan Cheng" by Souksun Douangxay from Laos and Irene Chiong Lee Ling, Lee Chui Peng and Nat Marusachote from Malaysia and Thailand won the silver award in the painting and calligraphy group and the new media group, respectively, the Chinese painting "Youth" by Yuan Yuan from the School of Fine Arts and Design won the bronze award in the painting and calligraphy group, and the work by Mah Wai Kong from Singapore also won the bronze award in the painting and calligraphy group.
This year marks the 30th anniversary of the ASEAN-China dialogue relations. On the morning of November 22, President Xi Jinping attended and chaired the Special Summit to Commemorate the 30th Anniversary of ASEAN-China Dialogue Relations in Beijing via video link, and delivered an important speech titled "For a Shared Future and Our Common Home". China and ASEAN officially announced to elevate their ties to a comprehensive strategic partnership. China-ASEAN dialogue relations have gone through an extraordinary journey over the past three decades. The establishment of a China-ASEAN comprehensive strategic partnership is a new milestone in the history of our relations and will inject new impetus into peace, stability, prosperity and development of our region and the world.
China and ASEAN share geographical proximity and cultural affinity. The diverse cultural and art resources have nourished our cooperation and laid the foundation of international exchanges in art education. On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of ASEAN-China dialogue relations, the College of Chinese & ASEAN Arts, as a part of ASEAN-China cultural and art exchanges, promotes cooperation and exchanges through international talent cultivation, facilities ASEAN-China cultural exchanges with practical actions, including organizing activities like ASEAN-China Youth Exchange Week, and integrates international artist cultivation and cultural and art exchanges into local services. Based in Chengdu, the College is oriented towards ASEAN and the world, and will further contribute to the cultural and art exchanges and cooperation between Chinese and foreign countries.
