On the morning of May 9, the inauguration ceremony of the Research Center for the Mutual Appreciation of Civilizations and the One Belt and One Road in Chengdu University was held in the lecture hall of the new library. As one of the three sub-centers of Collaborative Innovation Center for Chinese Multi-ethnic Cultures Cohesion and Global Communication (Co-construction Center by Sichuan Province and the Ministry of Education), the newly established Research Center will work together with the previously established Sub-Center for Chinese Multi-ethnic Cultures Global Communication and the Sub-Center for Chinese Multi-ethnic Cultures Cohesion to jointly promote the overall foreign exchange of the country, and the inheritance, dissemination and innovation of excellent Chinese culture.
It is reported that the Collaborative Innovation Center for Chinese Multi-ethnic Cultures Cohesion and Global Communication (Co-construction Center by Sichuan Province and the Ministry of Education) is the first provincial-ministerial collaborative innovation center in Sichuan Province. In the starting year of implementing the 14th Five-Year Plan, Chengdu University and Sichuan University have agreed on a common vision of collaboration and development, and have established the Research Center for the Mutual Appreciation of Civilizations and the One Belt and One Road, sub-center for the Collaborative Innovation Center for Chinese Multi-ethnic Cultures Cohesion and Global Communication (Co-construction Center by Sichuan Province and the Ministry of Education).
At the inauguration ceremony, Zhang Zhihuai, Party Secretary of the CPC Committee of the Sichuan Federation of Social Science Associations, expressed his warm congratulations to the establishment and hoped that Chengdu University would always focus on practical research and academic accumulation with the global vision, develop and make continuous progress. Meanwhile, the Collaborative Innovation Center and other sub-centers will devote coordinated efforts to do great things.
In his speech, Yao Leye, Vice President of Sichuan University and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Center, said, "Sichuan University will work together with Chengdu University to pass on and disseminate the excellent traditional Chinese multi-ethnic cultures, as well as promote cultural exchange and mutual appreciation between Chinese and foreign cultures."
Wang Qingyuan, President and Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Chengdu University, said in his speech that the establishment of the Research Center is a momentous event during the history and development of Chengdu University. Under the current requirements of the Party and the State on "consolidating the awareness of national community" and the major strategic deployment, the Research Center for the Mutual Appreciation of Civilizations and the One Belt and One Road will further integrate academic resources and expand the research team with a clearer construction goal so as to carry out its work in a practical way and produce a number of high-level results. In this way can we promote the development of Chengdu University, and contribute to serving the national strategy.
Zhang Zhihuai, Yang Yapei, inspector of Education Department of Sichuan Province, Wang Qingyuan and Yang Yuhua, Standing Committee Member of Party Committee and Vice President of Chengdu University, inaugurated the Research Center for the Mutual Appreciation of Civilizations and the One Belt and One Road. Cao Shunqing, Director of the Collaborative Innovation Center for Chinese Multi-ethnic Cultures Cohesion and Global Communication (Co-construction Center by Sichuan Province and Ministry of Education), presented an appointment letter to Yang Yuhua, Director of the Research Center for the Mutual Appreciation of Civilizations and the One Belt and One Road.
After the inauguration ceremony, all participants took a group photo before the visit to the sand table of the 31st FISU Summer World University Games Chengdu. Afterwards, the first meeting of the Academic Committee of the Research Center for the Mutual Appreciation of Civilizations and the One Belt and One Road was held in the Academic Exchange Center. Its research project will be guided by the overall construction plan for the next four years and the development concept of "mutual cultural appreciation" and "harmony in diversity". This will become a supportive platform for civilizational dialogue at the international stage by gathering social consensus and establishing emotional ties.
It is reported that in the near future, the Research Center will further integrate academic resources and expand the research team so as to carry out its work in a practical way and produce a number of high-level results. At the same time, Chengdu University will make full use of its strengths in humanities, education, art, and other related disciplines, and give full play to the traditional superiorities of the Research Institute of Tianfu Culture, College of Chinese & ASEAN Arts, and international cooperation and exchange so that it makes contributions to the growth and expansion of the institute. We will be continuously aimed at the major realistic needs of the country and carry out research projects that focus on making research, inheriting, and spreading Chinese excellent traditional culture and Tianfu culture, so that the research results can truly serve the construction of Chengdu University, local development, and national strategies. It is necessary to promote integration and sharing by fully studying and learning the advanced experience from Sichuan University and strive to build the research center into a high-end think tank integrating research and elucidation, education inheritance, talent cultivation, innovative development, and social service in a relatively short period of time, and widely carry out academic exchanges at home and abroad, and strive to produce multi-level research results, so as to promote the development and construction of Chengdu University and contribute to serving the national strategy.
