14 Works from Chengdu University Have Received the 17th Social Science Outstanding Achievement Award of Sichuan Province

The Social Science Outstanding Achievement Award of Sichuan Province, set up by the People's Government of Sichuan Province, is the highest-level award in the field of social sciences of the Province. It is also an important platform for showcasing the research capacity, publications and research strengths of the social sciences in Sichuan. Chengdu University has won 14 Social Science Outstanding Achievement Awards, among which 6 have been completed by our university as the first completion unit. In recent years, the university has deepened the reform of scientific research system, further standardizing scientific research management and comprehensively improving the ability of research innovation. With the joint efforts of all social science workers, new progress has been made in the field of humanities and social sciences.


A Study of Physical Object-Referring Terms in the Three Rites

Building on the cutting-edge theories and achievements of contemporary lexicology, semantics, linguistics and other related subjects,A Study of Physical Object-Referring Terms in the Three Rites combines cognitive theory and language philosophy to undertake in-depth research and comprehensive discussion ofphysical object-referring terms in the Three Rites. This paper determines the ancient sound status of monosyllabic words based on the scientific ancient tone system. With the help of predecessors' commentaries, classic books such asShuo Wen, unearthed objects, bamboo slips, the etymology of physical object-referring terms in the Three Rites are traced in comparison to the corpus of sibling language. Meanwhile, the rationale for various attributes is concluded and summarized. On this basis, three systems regarding category, evidence and meaning of physical object-referring terms in the Three Rites are established to summarize the relations of their sound and meaning, which may corroborate the ancient history and culture.

Research on Government Regulation of Tourism Market and Regional Tourism Industry Structure

The part of Government Regulation of the Tourism Market mainly discusses the relationship between market malfunction, government regulation and government malfunction. Based on the theoretical basis of this study, this part analyzes the market malfunction of tourism industry market in Sichuan Province and finds that the root cause lies in the government's failure to regulate the tourism market. Therefore, this part concludes that to promote the development of Sichuan's tourism industry, the first problem to be solved should be the failure of government regulations. The part of research on the Structure of Regional Tourism Industry mainly focuses on two aspects. The first one is the characteristics of the tourism industry structure and the factors that affect the structure of the tourism industry. The other is the goal to optimize the regional tourism industry structure, that is, the rationalization and advancement of the tourism industry structure. The qualitative method and the quantitative index are adopted to assess it. The empirical analysis is carried out from three aspects, including structure concentration analysis, productivity analysis and structural benefit analysis of the tourism industry. Combined with the relevant tourism statistics of Sichuan Province as a specific analysis case, countermeasures for adjusting the tourism industry structure are proposed.

Reformatory schools are places that provide young students with moral misbehavior or minor criminal acts with suitable practices, education and training that are slightly different from those in normal primary schools. At present, there are about 100 reformatory schools in China. From the perspective of an educator, the authors of this book describe the growth experience and transformation process of the children in one of the schools–Chengdu No. 52 Middle School, and present the behavior and thoughts of the parents of this group of children. Also, this book portrays the real life of a teacher in a reformatory school. The book is divided into three parts. The first part is for students, in which the authors recall their own school days and tell 12 different and similar stories from the perspectives of students. The second part is presented from the perspective of parents. This part records the original family life of several children through family stories and parent diaries. It crystallizes the image of parents who have been hidden behind their children. The third part is for teachers. The authors review several teachers who had a great and positive influence, and describe the fear and loss, fulfillment, and touch that the authors experienced in Chengdu No.52 middle school.

Thebook,History of Ancient Chinese Material Culture–Painting · Grotto Temples Murals (Gaochang), presents the history of Gaochang and studies on Gaochang Grottoes and religious beliefs from the perspective of material culture. In this book, the research history of Gaochang Grottoes starts from the exploration of the architectural form and mural style of the grotto temples in the one-thousand-year transition period from Gaochang County to the Uighur Kingdom of Gaochang. Also, the Qiuci style, Han characteristic style and Uighur style are discussed specially. The work first reviews the history of archaeological excavations of the Gaochang Grottoes, analyzes the architectural style and characteristics of the caves, and explicates the diverse religious belief systems presented by the grotto murals. Secondly, it focuses on the different styles of murals in different historical stages of Gaochang Grottoes. Through the style and characteristics of Gaochang murals, the influence and origin of Qiuci style and Han style murals are discussed separately. Through the analysis of Sutra illustration paintings, benefactors' portraits, and decorative patterns, this book studies the traces of ancient social life and material cultural exchanges in Gaochang. The work incorporates the alternation of mural painting styles and multi-ethnic exchanges in the Gaochang area into the research. It sorts out and explains many issues worthy of attention, and provides insights on issues that still remain controversial.

The book has made great efforts in literature and image materials. With more than 210 texts and drawings, it helps readers to understand the mural culture of Gaochang Grottoes more intuitively.
